DSC Color Touchscreen: PTK5507W vs PTK5507??

Hi all,

I’m hoping to make all my alarm system purchases during homesecuritystore.com’s sale, but I’m stuck on this.

I thought I wanted/needed DSC PTK5507 ( Security System TouchScreen Keypad PTK 5507 | DSC PowerSeries Security Products | DSC ), but I can only find the DSC PRT5507W ( http://www.homesecuritystore.com/showproduct.aspx?ProductID=2140&SEName=ptk5507w-dsc-powerseries-7-full-color-touch-screen-keypad ).

They look like the same item, but I’m not sure. I tried calling the store, but the wait took forever. Then I emailed, but didn’t think I’d get a response soon enough anyway.

So, maybe the brains on here can help me! Are these two the same? The PTK5507W and the PTK5507? If not, is the PTK5507W an adequate replacement? If not, where do I get the PTK5507?

From what I can see, the W stands for “white”. Default looks to have a light grey (or gray) colored plastic body.

Otherwise they are the same thing.

Just remember that if you get a kit, the small 4Ah battery that comes with it will need to be upgraded, and you may need an additional power supply.

I realize this is not an alarm system forum specifically but does anyone happen to know if there is a version of this coming that has a wireless receiver, so that it could be a drop-in replacement for say an RFK5500?

Not at this point. The trend is based on the TR5164 which removes any requirement to include RF in the keypad. So the options would be TR5164, RF5132 or PC5132 modules… The TR5164 is the newest in the range.
