Door King Gate Opener

I have a Door King 1812 Access Plus at my gate down a long driveway. I also have a Vera 2 running UI5. The 1812 is plugged into the network has a local IP address, and is programmable via PC based software. Has anyone looked into controlling this via Vera? Would love to be able to remotely open/close the gate from a handheld device.

There are probably two possible basic approaches:

  1. Write a plugin.

  2. Ditch the control unit which controls your motors and control them with a shutter controller like the fibaro: ftp://ftp.zwaveeurope.com/pub/man/en/FIB/FIB_FGR-221_in_en.pdf

Writing the plugin would be extremely easy … getting the documentation on the Door King control point which will contain the details of what to put into the plugin is the complicated part. And you will likely get quite a run-around trying to get someone at Door King who knows what an API is!
