Door Chime

Looking for an idea on how to set up a door chime when my doors are opened. I have installed the sensors and looking for ideas for a chime.

What speakers are you intending to use?

I am personally using a TTS to announce which door has been opened through SONOS.

If you are looking for a stand-alone Z-Wave chime, the Dome siren/chime works well. It has 10 preloaded sounds ranging from a doorbell to various alarms, in addition to a traditional warning siren with LED strobe. It’s battery-powered and can be installed using the included double-stick foam tape. It pairs without issue and is fully integrated with U7.

Depending on your region, the Black Cat Message Centre will do what you want.

The aeotec doorbell has several tones and chimes and can be loaded with mp3s for whatever sounds or announcements you want.

Fyi, it does require luup to control the mp3s.

I just wish the VeraSecure siren was as functional…

Check this post. It uses the Aeotek doorbell and is a very good option, requiring just a little bit of code to make it work. Full instructions included in link.

I probably should have mentioned that “fully integrated” with UI7 means that the device has direct control over the sounds via “pushbuttons”—no coding needed. When including the chime into a scene, you can select the desired sound from the built-in “pushbutton” controls.
