I own a business and I am trying to find a less expensive (and more flexible control) alternative to the Schlage Professional line of door access products. My question is does the Vera2 allow you to control when a user can have access to enter? I would like to go with the Schlage FE599 door handle or maybe a Kwikset motorized dead bolt. I noticed the Kwikset has a limit of only two codes, is this a hard limit or can the Vera2 overcome this? Can the Schlage dead bolt notify when it was locked or unlocked? What combo would you recommend with the Vera2 or ???
I have 3 of the Kwikset SmartKey locks in my Vera2 network. Without a home controller these locks will only accept 2 codes and they cannot be programmed for time of day access. Once included in the network you have an additional 30 codes (according to the instructions) and you can do time of day access (according to experience). We have a person who comes to clean our house once a week and her passcode is set for only that day from 7:30 til noon. I also have it set to send me an email when she arrives.
My son has the Schlage deadbolt and is happy with it. I do not know its abilities.
Older version of the Vera firmware allowed retricted access with use of the schlage lock. In current vera firmware only the Kwikset locks are able to use this feature.
MCV claims they will/have fixed this but this fix has not been available to the public.
The feature is implemented in different manner with the two locks. Why the implementing of one broke the other we the public don’t know it just is.
Yes by home controller I mean it works with my Vera2 - but there are others controllers out there and you get 30 extra passcodes with them as well…
When a passcode is entered you can have it email or text you and it will give you the name associated with the passcode. When someone leaves they press the ‘lock’ button. You can have a text and or email sent on that action as well but the lock does not have a person’s name associated with it.
