We use Vera in our vacation home which is 3000 miles away from our main home. Last time we were at our vacation home was in June, and we are back out at the vacation home until Dec. 31. We learned that Vera was down and we lost all control of our network at some point in October.
Fault us for not keeping up with the administrative announcements on this forum, but we had not realized our 2.64 version dongle was recalled and needs replacement. Unfortunately, we could not participate in the recall program because we were not able to access the old dongle to send it back or to insert the new Dongle. Now we find out that everyone at MiCasa Verde is on vacation until January 4. How convenient for us. A few questions:
-
Our network is now back up and working with the 2.64 version dongle. My understanding is that the 2.64 Version Dongle is not firmware upgradeable. Is this correct?
-
Any suggestions on what we should do about replacing the dongle? Will not be back out to the vacation home until February or March. Just wait and hope that Vera does not go down again?
-
One last nasty surprise with the Schlage lock. When I arrived at our front door, I simply pushed the Schlage button and unlocked our door. I did not enter a code. Is this normal when the Vera network goes down? This is a very disturbing issue that our door can be easily unlocked without our knowledge.
Thanks.
I’m no expert here, and dont have the schlage lock, but I remember a past posting that explains how with a certain inncorrect installation you can get the result you described outside the door when it should do that inside, search the forums and you will find it
PS: if it was me I’d want the new dongle while they are giving them (to end soon) for future firmware updates even if it was working fine
Lock is installed incorrectly, that is why you were able to unlock without a code (lock thought it was unlocked and you were locking it), search back for my post explaining this issue and why it is doing this and how to fix it. The lock will function independently of the Vera, you just won’t be able to remotely control it or have it report in the logs when it is locked and unlocked.
