Difficulty adding codes to Schlage Lock

Hello,

I have Vera attached to a Schlage lock, and I need to add a new code. Whenever I attempt to add a code to the lock, it doesnt seem to function at all. Clicking the Set button doesnt seem to trigger anything.

I have tried using both IE8 and FF3. I dont have the Z-Wave dongle in Vera, but otherwise it is all set up fine. Any ideas why this might be?

It takes a while for the codes to be added due to the heavy encryption and level of communications with the locks. Have you waited a while to see that it does/does not take?

You might want to reset your Vera, too. I had to do this once before I could get a lock code to show up.

Finally, does the lock respond to other Vera commands? You might have an overall communications problem.

I personally had to RMA one of my locks with Schlage because it was not working properly. Hopefully that is not your case.

Your’re kidding right1 you don’t have the dongle in vera?
Might I ask how Vera can communicate to the lock without the dongle!
If that was a misspell you might have a communication issue. Although schlage claims
60- 100 feet that is in open space( an empty lot and no RF interference) reality in a house is between 20-50’. You might need to add a Zwave module to the network. The module must not be battery powerd. such as Light switch or plug in module. If using a plug-in module must have the latest firmware that supports the "Beam technology be able to communicate and wake-up the lock?
