I’m trying to connect Vera to an EVL3. The only place I see to set IP is the advanced tab, the same place where you see name, devicetype, altID, MAC, etc. Is that the correct place to enter the IP? I was expecting some sort of setup page. When I click on the “Envisalink 2DS” button and reload, I don’t see a change.
Try putting the IP address in first before selecting the interface type, save and then go back and select the 2DS interface.
If that fails, you can try putting 2DS into the InterfaceType variable and see if it works then.
Also, make sure you didn’t change the default username and passwords on the EVL3. I believe they are hard coded into the plugin.
Yes, that is the correct place to set the IP address. It is also advisable to either a fixed IP address directly on you EVL3 or reservation IP address on your router.
Note: If you setup a Fixed IP on EVL3 you may still need to do a reservation on your router unless the IP address is NOT in the range that is used for DHCP on the router.
I find it best to NOT use a Fixed IP address on attached internet devices (This is the default configuration of most attached devices) … and to ALWAYS do a reservation on the router to make sure it always get’s the same known IP address.
Thanks for the help. It turned out that the issue was that my EVL-3 was trying to update its firmware (it shipped with 88, current is 118). So the network interface was flaky. Now that it’s settled, everything’s working well.
