devices with a "!" icon

I’ve currently got 3 z-wave devices hooked up, one plugin module and 2 dimmer switches (Levion VRI06-1LZ)
The plugin module works great, but I have the little yellow “!” icon with the 2 dimmers. I tried resetting the dongle, adding them again and I have the same result. One of them is between 25 and 30 feet from vera and it does work, but the other one does not, It’s a further 10 feet or so. I’m under the impression each device acts as a repeater in the mesh so everything should all be good, right?

The devices I purchased from MiCasaVerde when I got Vera, so I assume they are compatible.

any insight is appreciated, the “Z-wave config status” wiki page is blank.

Rick, the ! means Vera wasn’t able to complete the configuration. What I would recommend is going to advanced, logs, and enable verbose logs. Then, click ‘save’ (it causes a reload). Then go to ‘devices’, click’+’ next to the device that’s not being configured, and then at the bottom there’s a either a ‘configure now’ button, or depending onthe firmware veresion, a zwave options or zwave configuration button which takes you to an ‘apply now’ button. Do that, and then wait a couple minutes. This will force a re-configuration. If the devices still have an !, go to advanced, tech support and fill out a trouble reporting including submitting the logs and configuration. Then contact us with the report ID and we’ll look into it. They should work fine.

I started the process over. First deleting all the devices, then reseting the dongle and adding everything back.
This time, only one of the two lights shows up. The one that worked but still had the “!” on it.
Forcing the configuration seemed to work, but I’ve somehow lost the other light. It’s about 15 feet from the
one that’ s now working and it’s not showing up as a device at all. I’ve tried adding it through the dongle a few times, and no luck. I’ll try again tomorrow. Is anyone else having issues with the Leviton Vizia RF+ dimmers?

I have an issue slightly related to this as well. I have an outdoor z-wave plug I only use during the holiday season. When I first setup the Vera it copied it over from the primary remote but had the ! as it was unable to poll it since it had not been setup. Now, however, the lights have been setup and it is in use. I can successfully control the device via the Vera controller but it still has the ! symbol.

I think I might have an issue with the switch. I can’t get vera to even recognize it as a new device from the usb wand. I ordered a Monster AVL300 which should be here by the weekend, I’ll see if it can pick up the device. Since I have a minimal set-up right now(3 rooms, 3 devices, 1 event) does anyone think that resetting the system and starting over would give me any benefit?

Ever since the current firmware upgrade, I see a switch too with a “!”.

For a bit, I thought I just might be crazy and needed to reset everything, but I don’t have the time right now to do it.

It seems that the system might have a problem with phantom devices. In my case, I ordered a switched outlet, and it worked for one day. Then it died. Exchanged it and put the new one in which it detected just fine.

But then after the firmware upgrade, the old broken outlet that was return seems to be showing up, but not functional due to it not being there.

This weekend I’ll reset everything and add everything back. We’ll see if that clears it out for me.

I believe in one of the threads MCV mentioned that Z-Wave USB stick has its own flash memory, where it keeps its own list of all the devices ever added. This list gets loaded to Vera, but when you remove a device from Vera, it does not get deleted from the USB stick and appears again later. They promised to fix it in the next firmware.

Monster AVL300

FYI, the AVL300 does not work as anything but a master controller. The copy/send z-wave network functions in it are not working. This is a known issue which, to my knowledge, will not be resolved.

As far as the other devices not being configured, after you get the new firmware due in a day or two, enable verbose logging, do a ‘save’, and after the configuration process is done, submit a trouble report if they’re still not configured, and post the report id here so we can analyze it and reply.

will do. Can’t wait for that firmware update! Right now, my vera can’t do anything except eat up a bit of electricity and send me an email about an event it performed on a device it isn’t controling.

The .404 firmwre is out

Regarding the Monster Remote AVL300… Can this remote be used with the Vera system and lighting if the AVL300 will only be a master? I have a AVL300 that is currently controlling my HT and doing so very well, My lighting gets here this week and I am also purchasing a Vera… Will the AVL300 and Vera co-exist? Will I be able to use both the Vera and AVL300 to control lighting?
