My vacation house Vera Lite running UI5 has been great for some time. About a month ago my Father was at the house and when he returned he told me some of the devices on his phone (HomeWave) didn’t work in one room.
I checked in on VERA then ad I saw a few devices missing. They just weren’t showing in the VERA UI anymore as if they were never installed.
Forgetting about it today I get ready to tackle this problem and I login in to the UI and now I notice more then half my devices are gone. Rooms are now sitting empty with no devices showing in them.
Some of these devices are not far from the Vera either, they are not all the same type of device and not all in the same room.
I thought nightly heals have been off for some time (might need someone to explain how that works again to double check that).
Installed the oldest backup I saw on the list (which was like sept. 11th) and everything if back now. Was easy only problem is 2 of my far away devices are now having range issues and won’t poll. So basicly at this time I have 2 non responding devices but all the rest are back.
What do I do to prevent this from happening again, and anyone have any idea on how to get the last two, to respond remotely?
I actually usually stay away from the heal (which is why I have or tired to turn off nightly heals) as some times those distant devices start causing problems after they have been working fine for some time.
Yea I did a heal and ended up with alot more problems. So I again went back to the backup and got everything working but 2 devices. I let them be for now and will fix them later.
But I’m back posting here again for the same problem on a different Vera in a different house.
So at my everyday house, (VeraLite UI5, around 30 devices, running fine for about a year, smaller house no range issues) my wife tells me the bathroom fan wont stay on. (PLEG off condition keeps flipping it off right away) I ignore it for 2 days then today I see the problem happening to me so I decide to go check out the status and condition in PLEG. It’s pretty simple uses the door and the light to determine if fan should be on. Door closed with light on for several min. means in use turn on fan. Door open and light off for few min. means turn off.
I open PLEG and I get an error of trigger deleted for unused or missing device or something. So I look at the triggers and I notice my bathroom light trigger is missing. I figure OK, that’s why my fan is screwed up. I try to add back a trigger and I notice my bathroom light is not listed. I exit PLEG and my bathroom light is not on the dashboard anymore. It’s like it got excluded somehow.
This is two different VERA’s and two different locations now starting to experience the same thing.
I do use alot of GE ON/OFF switches and I believe that’s mostly what has been going missing, but at the other house I did loose Kwikset door locks along with the switches, so I don’t think that’s it.
The vast majority of my switches and dimmers are GE ones. Most of which came from the Radio Shack clearance 3 years ago. I’ve not had anything like this happen here. Only 3 switches and 3 dimmers are Intermatic (6 pack for $99 on Fleabay a while back I could not resist)
My Vera3 runs a nightly heal and I’m not seeing any problems with either the GE or Intermatic devices.
