Danfoss Living Connect Z Firmware 2.51

I’ve just got a new TRV and was a bit worried about all the issues people seem to be having with them not responding to the Vera. Mine has firmware 2.51 and seems to respond instantly (on wakeup!) to any set point adjustment I make.

Has v2.51 fixed that issue?

Does “respond instantly” mean that you can hear the valve motor adjust immediately after receiving a new set point?

Yes, I’ve got the wakeup time set to 5 minutes and as soon as it wakes up so the Vera can transmit the config change you can hear the valve move.

Still no temperature info being sent back though.

Sounds like some of the issues have been sorted which is good.

I have a number of rooms in a bed and breafast that I want to control.
Has anyone managed to successfully use the following setup,

Danfoss Living Connect Z to control the radiators
Z-Wave wall stat eg(Secure SRT321 Wall Thermostat ) to manually change the set point
Z-Wave Secure Boiler Receiver to turn off boiler and pump once all rooms reach the setpoint.
Z-Wave window sensors to turn off the radiator/ lower setpoint when a window is open.

Was looking at the Danfos Link setup and the Honeywell Evo systems, but none of them can be connected to window sensors.
The build in Window Open function in the TRV does not work very well in milder climates and only works for 30 minutes max.

Aranman, this setup you describe is similar to one I have been running successfully for a while. I have added more automation using PLEG and Smart Virtual Thermostat plugins, and fitted a mixture of Oregon Scientific and Netatmo temperature sensors inside and outside to measure the actual temp in various rooms. All in all works reasonably well

Thanks David, Nice to know there is a solution possible. I am very much new to home automation.

Following a bit more research, it looks like the following is the best way to go.

Use a HRT4-ZW and Danfoss Living Connect Z in each room to control temp and adjust setpoint.
Associate each HRT4 to a ASR-ZW.
Wire up each ASR in parrell so that each HRT4 can call the boiler independently.

Hopefully I should be able to us a Vera to monitor to window sensors and reduce a HRT4 setpoint if a window is opened.
I am assuming I can link a particular set of window sensors to a particular HRT 4.

If anyone has a suggestion for a better setup , please let me know.

I just got 2 radiator valves with firmware 2.51 in the mail, and I can indeed hear the valve move when the temperature set point is transmitted :slight_smile:

I haven’t… I don;t think it is possible to have the HRT4 send temperature setpoints directly to the radiator valves, but a simple scene should take care of that.

I am running Danfoss Living Connects of different firmware (including 2.51) on the latest Vera firmware 1.5.622 with no major issues. You will be better having some mains powered devices in the system to help with the mesh network. The Danfoss literature is incorrect as you don’t need support for SUC.

Yes. Always useful and a cheap( in Z-wave terms) way to create the mesh, particularly if you progress to locks which are notoriously picky.

Good to hear that instant response of the valve is indeed possible. I’m still struggling to have normal responses from the LC’s (2.51) and haven’t really heard any motor yet. Perhaps a little more cold weather will help me set up a good test situation.
By the way, for testing purposes I now have a notification sent each time the set point is higher than 0 (which is always). Work very well: I always know when the set point is received back by Vera. Normally this is in 5- 15 minutes (wakeup is set to 15 minutes).

Do you know is it possible to limit the max and min manual adjustement using the dial on the HRT4 ?
The unit can be adjusted from 5 to 30 degrees, but ideally I do not want guests setting the temperature above 25 degrees.

This can be done on the new C-Stat 11-zw but they are a lot more expensive.

Not possible, but you could make a Vera scene to dial back the temperature when it’s set above 25 degrees. It’ll take some time to propagate the adjustement to the thermostat and in theory your tenants could keep setting the temperature to a higher setting every few minutes, but in practice they probably won’t bother (or even notice)

I now have all the kit and I am starting to bench test it.
I have managed so far to add the DLCz, HRT4 and ASR to vera3 and then associate the HRT4 and ASR.
Works fine. I have also setup a secne to dial back the setpoint on the HRT4 to 25 degrees if it is setpoint is manually set above 25 degrees.

However I have not been able to associate the HRT4 with the DLCz. (Intveltr, you did indicate that this may not be possible.)
So what is the best way to have the setpoint on the DLCz track the manual setpoint change of the HRT4, other than setting up a scene and trigger for every degree of change.

Once every while, my Danfoss LC sets itself exacty 5 degrees lower than it is set. Eg 10 → 5 degrees. Than after a while, it goes back up 5 degrees. Is this the open window detection at work?
