Danalock?

I asked Danalock again about the spring latch on doors without handle and received the following answer:

"You can set the Danalock to run back after x seconds, we call it Autolock, i believe this it what you are looking for.
This is what we use locks like yours.

It will make the Danalock roll back after x seconds, and thereby put the latch back in position."

So maybe i will order one and try it out…

Anyone tested these? Especially interested if the spring latch also is pulled back (quit useless if not as my front door always needs a key, even for just pulling back the spring latch)

I also mailed Danalock (yesterday) and got the following answer:

You have the same lock as they have in Germany, and we are selling them in big numbers there.

The danalock has got enough power to turn the extra 90 degrees to hold the spring back, but you will have to use the auto lock, for the brining the spring back out, or press lock on the touch button on the danalock or even lock it from the app.

We are working on a version, where the danalock hold the spring back and then let it go after x sec, this is better for people using the same type of lock as you. And also it takes less power to do this, so it a win win.
But for now people are just buying and using it as it is.

Anyone have a problem with the batteries? Mine died and I replaced them with batteries from amazon when I screwed the battery cover on it began smoking and the batteries were really hot when I removed them. Any ideas? It’s the round zwave lock.

I too replaced the batteries last weekend. The light would not go out and it got really hot. I removed the batteries and e-mailed danalock. They replied saying they would send out a pcb replacement. It had something to do with the version I have and turning the lock by hand without the batteries. I’m not exactly sure. Contact them to get the replacement.

:-\

It is looking that my lock after 1 month is as well out of power.
It was looking fine but when the weather start to change outside and there was difference in temperature between out-in - it started to die…
Just week ago the power indicated in Vera was 98% - now it is 0%.

I think the design of PCB is really not ready for real use in such humidity and temperature differences.

And - actually I have one code/chip lock from China (no z-wave) which is already working without any issues outside for 2 years.
No matter if there is rain… snow… -25deg. C - it is just working. I have paid for this one 10 euros…

Danalock… I would not mention the price - but it is expensive - and it is looking it is not yet ready for real usage…

I have mailed them - hope there is solution. I like the idea… If not - it is not working as described and would have to go back to the producer. In UE the low is little more user friendly for consumers… but hope that step would not be needed.

And unfortunately I see I’m not the only one having issues with battery live… but paying 12Euros every month just to replace batteries is not the best solution…

If you have any news how this is working after PCB replace - please let me know.

Was anyone able to operate their Andoid app?

I tried it from Nexus 5, Nexus 4 & Nexus 7 (2013) - all running Android L, and the app crashes when I give my new lock a name.

This essentially means that the BT option is useless for me.

Yes the app works for me (android 4.4.4) but sometimes the connection only works at the 2 try. Even on the first try it is quite slow though (way faster to get the key out… :-)…)

Ok, after I installed the “MyLock” app by the same publisher, instead of crushing it displayed an error message that helped me get the connection working.

What was the problem? Is danalock working properly now? I’m still thinking about buying one so any info would be nice.

So is anyone having good luck with this?

I’d really like to get this lock because my condo building doesn’t want me to change the door handle or bolt style.

I have a weird door lock that operates in three positions I hope this would be compatible. One position is open, the second places a lock on the door handle and third position is the deadbolt.

It works for me but the BT together with my android is a bit of a hit or miss. Also I had to have the board replaced after a battery change as something broke apparently. 3 positions is, as far as I can see not supported. From your description 2 positions should be good enough for you though. You can adjust how far it turns so either activate the handle or full deadbolt on open

I was one of the original backers of Lockitron, but after a full year waiting finally gave up once they announced their new “Bolt” product that requires a full replacement of the lock. Did a little bit of research, was considering the August since they have that new “Connect” add-on, but since it wasn’t available yet I went with the Danalock - the Circle with both Zwave and bluetooth. Ordered it on Wednesday and it was actually at my doorstep by noon on Friday … pretty impressive given it came from Denmark and I’m in Toronto. Import fees were steep unfortunately - added about $40 to the total - but nothing to do with the company.

So today I set aside the afternoon, thinking I’d probably need most of it to get it installed an configured. I was totally wrong. There was minimal instructions included, but there was a sheet that directs you them on the web - a little poorly worded, but relatively easy to follow. It literally took me no more than 15 minutes to get the thing mounted on my door - if that. Maybe I was lucky, but it was simply a matter of removing my old lock’s baseplate and replacing it with the one provided with the Danalock. The existing screws fit the template, and I didn’t even have to use the “tailpiece” included as mine fit fine.

Once it was installed I wanted to test it manually - it’s a little counter-intuitive as you turn it the opposite way from what you’d expect, but no big deal. Also a little stiff to start. Then moved on to the button, one push to lock, a longer push to unlock. Seemed to have a problem to start where it wasn’t fully unlocking, but after a couple of cycles (manual and via the button) it seemed to adjust. But of course I didn’t buy this to use it manually, I wanted to check out the pairing.

First up was the phone. Downloaded the app, followed the instructions to put it in inclusion mode, and had it paired in less than a minute - on the first go-around. It’s a fairly simple app, but easy enough to lock and unlock it from there. There’s a slight delay when hitting the button before you hear/see the lock respond, but it’s only about 2-3 seconds.

Then of course what I figured would be the challenge - getting in included in my Vera system. As you probably have found, getting new devices paired properly can sometimes be a challenge. The Danalock was included on the 2nd go - I’m not sure if the instructions on the Danalock website are correct, it says to hit the button twice for Zwave, and three times for Bluetooth. It seemed (and I might be wrong) that I had to do three times to get it recognized. Regardless it was way less painful than I’ve had with other devices. It was recognized and setup as a lock as it should. As far as controlling via Zwave, it’s working ok at the moment - the delay seems a little longer, but can’t say for sure if it’s the lock or the Vera. I’m going to try to do a repair to see if that helps.

I haven’t tried all the features yet, but from the basics of having a Bluetooth/ZWave enabled lock I’m pretty pleased!

@dclloyd I too am still waiting for my lockitron and ready to give up. Are you on UI5 perchance? If the danalock is solid on UI5 I think I will follow your lead. Thanks!

I’m on UI7 with a Vera 3.

I’m a bit worried that it won’t fit on my door. Take a look at the pics.

Note the space between the lock and the handle. The notice how that space varies from inside and out.

Bump…Anyone have an idea of whether or not it might fit my door?

Thanks

My help if you use a tape measure when you take pictures.

Or better yet look at the last page of the specs page on their website. It shows the size. Along with that and your tape measure, you’ll know.

I have installed a danalock today and it seems to be working via the BT app and via Zwave. I have tried to test guest access, but this process doesn’t seem intuitive. has anyone successfully done this? If everyone has to download the app and create a unique user account on danalock’s website that is a terrible design for granting one-time access to a repaiman or the like. Also the danalock website seems to lack a user forum.

have you any “good” experience with using a standard cylinder instead of the danalock one ?

i planning of just cutting a key short to fit inside the danalock … but iam not sure it have to be flexible or not.
