D-Link DCS-930L

Hi Guys,

Hope you might be able to assist. I have configured this camera but having problems trying to get it working on Vera, I have flashed the firmware to 1.04 as 1.05 is not available

When adding it to Vera2 UI5, it does not detect the IP camera via the WiFi or ethernet, but if I try add it manually it can see it, and then it comes back as unable to display the image.

Does anyone have any thoughts as I have tried what is listed on the IP compatabilty page for the IP Compatability.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mike

Did you turn on access control on the camera and create a username/password pair? My 920 didn’t work till I did this seemingly unnecessary step.

I will need to check that, but I created the password to protect the camera and set these details up. I will check access control tomorrow and post back, but thanks for the quick response.

Hi Guys.

I have tried by creating a username and password, but to no avail.

I have tried adding the IP Camera automatically and nothing, if I try it manually, it can see it on the network, but once configured with where to get the snapshot from, I get this error message ‘Unable to get image from your camera.’

Any suggestions, I am running F/W 1.04 on the Camera and UI5 on a vera 2.

The wiki has F/W 1.05 but cant see that anywhere, any help would be appreciated guys.

Many thanks,

Mike

I have the D-Link DCS-930L and it works great.
I set it up to have a static IP address 192.169.xxx.xxx in the camera’s settings

In VERA under advanced settings tab for the camera, in the URL box put in /image/jpeg.cgi

Hi Richard, My camera has a static IP of 192.168.1.87 and I can log on using the web interface, Vera can see the camera if I do a manual add, but not if I do an automatic add, and yet still nothing.

For the camera model, did you leave it as generic or Panasonic as I have tried both but to no avail.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks,

Mike

After upgrading to UI5 on my Vera2 i was unable to add the camera automatically, Vera did not recognize it so I had to add it manually using the generic model.

After you add the camera give it some time - 15 min or so, and see if you have a picture.

Hi Richard,

Just tried what you suggested, and as soon as I click next, it comes back immediately with the same message, any other thoughts, also what version of the F/W are you running on the camera?

I had to add it manually.

Go to APPS tab on your dashboard, then go to Develop Apps sub tab. and look in Luup files to see if you have these files,
“D_DigitalSecurityCamera1.json”
“D_DigitalSecurityCamera1.xml”
“S_Camera1.xml”
“S_DigitalSecurityCameraSetting…xml” &
“S_DigitalSecurityCameraStillIm…xml”
They should be there.

Ok - now go to - create device in Develop Apps,
in the Upnp Device Filename space type - D_DigitalSecurityCamera1.xml
input IP and Mac address’s
Create Device

After creating the device, GIVE VERA SOME TIME TO CREATE THE CAMERA
Go back Devices and you should have a ( _Camera ) if not reload your browser
Add user name, password and in URL add /image/jpeg.cgi
save
you should have a picture

In early 2015 there was a necessary firmware upgrade for the camera, and by default the image server is now SSL secured and requires HTTPS:// to access the image. For the longest time I could not find a solution for Vera, but stumbling around in the configuration options I found a HTTP port that can be used unsecurely.

Mine was 802 so my IP address in Vera is now simply 192.168.x.xx:802 and the in the URL I put /image/jpeg.cgi

I’m so happy it works again!

I am able to make DCS-930L camera work out of box, I need help how to get the recording done using this camera

I have 2 Dlink IP cloud camera, one connected in local network which i am able to configure on Vera Edge, the 2nd camera is in other Geographical location which i can access on cloud app, is it possible to configure this cloud camera on Vera Edge U17

I’ve never tried this and don’t have an off site camera to test. But, if you setup port forwarding and have a static IP at your other location (not sure if Dynamic DNS would work in this situation) you should be able to set it up in Vera.
