I think you all know the Smartphone Plugin for the Vera. And I also think you all know the completely ugly greenish UI this Plugin provides. And I hate this UI…
So I figured out how to customize this: In the standart installation of the plugin the theme files (css) as well as all the needed pictures and java scripts are loaded from MicasaVerde. I now figured out how to adjust the plugin, which includes running the interface completely local from a usb stick plugged into the Vera. Please have a look at the attached picture to see how my interface looks at the Moment. It’s about giving you the option to create your own UI if you know a little about HTML and CSS, not about providing a complete better UI.
But before I write a HowTo I need to know if that is wished here. On one side, are there any users that would like to see a HowTo? And on the other side, is it OK with MicasaVerde to show HowTo “hack” their Smartphone Plugin or would I be banned from the forums?
Another option would be to provide this as a separate plugin, but for this I would first have to learn that.
I agree with mcvflorin. Spending some time to create a write up or add the information to the wiki is welcome. With my love/hate relationship with Vera (more love), one of the great things about this product is the ability to modify and tweak it! Great work by the way.
I have been looking for the exact solution you are offering. I was thinking that I could figure out how to do this but just haven’t take the time yet, so any help you can post online would be excelent.
Currently the only workaround I am using is that I have setup a local dns on my network and all requests from the MCV such as download.mios.com are routed to a local web server. Not a very elegant solution, but it also rids me of the “no internet connection” pop up box everytime I log into the UI4
I’ve just installed the Smartphone Plugin and I like the simplicity, but agree with the green theme, a update to blue to match uI5 would be nice so a how to would be great …
i’m running it on the iPad and while not the greatest experience, it certainly has some potential, plus it would be cool if it could have the apple “apple-touch-icon.png” stored with it, as I understand that allows you to bookmark the site to your home screen and it will look like a App.
I have some ideas how I would like it to work (similar to the ivera app) if I’m honest, but with a better interface.
Hello,
It’s a old post and it’s there is no news about that wiki.
I would be very insteresting by a “how to” because I would like do my own interface in Jquery Mobile or sencha Touch…
I’m working on an updated UI focused on HTML 4, CSS, and jQuery that’s optimized for fast page loading & device control. I’m trying to get app-like performance on any modern phone browser.
One issue that I have run into though is that there doesn’t seem to be a supported way to serve static (.js, .css, and .png) files from the Vera itself. Instead, I’m pulling them from a local webserver.
The current plugin on the store pulls a .tar.gz file from micasaverde.com, which is a source of slowdowns.
Is there any official way to include static files directly with an app?
Just get “Andre remote” for Android from the play store and you can design any interface you want. Most flexible remote/interface app I’ve ever found. It’s still in beta, but even so, it blows anything else available out of the water. It would be great to have some Vera veterans working on a setup for Andre and the Vera!
I want things to work the same whether its a laptop, Android phone, Windows Phone, iPhone, or a tablet variation of any of those The smartphone UI today is slow and refreshes constantly, I’m hoping to change that
