Cooper Aspire two switch dimmer situation

Here is my situation:

  1. replaced rotary dimmer and single pole, (two switch system) going to kitchen fixture
  2. Cooper Aspire 9534 Master replaced rotary dimmer, Cooper Aspire 9542 slave replaced single pole on other side of kitchen
  3. Four bulbs - LED - each 60W output, each 11W draw
  4. On/off operation is successful
  5. Dimming, brightening, remember settings, 10 second off delay all work well - no issues
  6. When turned off and after some period of time (minutes), 3 of the bulbs turn back on (not always the same 3) at a very low light level. They turn off at some point and back on again. Haven’t sat, watched and timed, but probably not important.
  7. Green LED on each switch is on all the time.
  8. Amber LED on 9542 slave is on all the time.
  9. Amber LED on 9534 master is on only when the switch is turned on.
  10. Amber/green LEDs do not change when the bulbs turn on by themselves.
  11. The bulbs do not flicker at any time.

I have read the information on many other sites and looked for a similar situation, but could find none. According to the manual, the required minimum lamp wattage for the two switch combination is 100W.

I would appreciate any advice that can be shared.

Cheers!

The issue here is that you are using a Z-Wave dimmer that does not utilize a Neutral wire, and must always pass some small amount of electricity through the circuit, even when Off. LED bulbs don’t deal with this well, especially if you do not meet the dimmer’s minimum load requirements.

Failure to meet the dimmer’s minimum load requirement is your issue. You are using four 11 watt bulbs, total load 44 watts. You state that the manual requires a 100watt minimum.

To resolve this issue, you should either increase the load to the minimum required, or replace the switch with a dimmer that utilizes a Neutral wire.
