I purchased a damaged box or open box Vera Plus controller from Amazon the other day. It arrived today. I’m trying to set it up. I plugged in the Ethernet cable to my new controller and to my network switch, plugged in the power cord, I get lights, I went to the “getvera” website and started the set-up process. The website would not recognize that there was a controller on my network so I killed my proxy. Still not recognized, I had the option to add manually, entered Serial number and Mac Address and I get a message that says “Controller Already Assigned”. There is no explanation as to what to do next, no link to support…nothing. What now? I have decided to switch from Wink to Vera because of the lack of support from Wink, the absence of a Wink user forum and because wink does not support energy monitoring with Z-Wave Plus monitoring enabled devices and the app is cheap and not very functional and has no geofencing. I really thought I’d made a good decision to switch, but now I can’t even get my controller to work. Any Ideas?
I think you have to contact support so the serial can be released from the last person to allow you to register the serial. http://support.getvera.com/

Thank you for contacting Vera Customer Care, This procedure will guide you to reset your Vera controller running UI7 to factory defaults. Please follow the instructions for the controller you have.
VERA PLUS
The Vera Plus controllers can be reset to factory defaults by pressing the reset button 6 times within 6 seconds. This will reset the Z-Wave network and change it?s HouseID, and clear your account and user configuration data from your unit.
Note: The account will only be removed from the controller, but it will continue to be in the database.
Pressing the reset button 3 times within 6 seconds will reset the network configuration settings to defaults, while keeping your other settings intact.

So, I got my new Vera Controller up and registered. Now I’ll have to figure out how to use it.
Glad to hear. These forums are a wealth of information and inspiration. But do not be afraid to play with the software and hardware. You sometimes learn more when you “break” something 8)
