Control4 Now works with Z-Wave Through Vera

For those that have not seen this yet, Extra Vegetables just released a driver that allows Control4 to communicate with Z-Wave devices using Vera as the translation tool.

Pretty exciting news for future flexibility of the Z-wave ecosystem that should hopefully workout well for Vera as well. Now if we could only borrow Control4’s seamless media service integration

Surprised CoCoontech waited till CEDIA to post something about it.

With Control4’s recent push integrating controller units right into higher end TV’s and Receivers, it is a great option that hopefully will help the home automation industry as a whole.

Is there any way to buy Control4 products to install yourself?

And does anyone here know what it would take to use the Control4 MyHome apps with Vera? I’m still hoping for a Square Connect Android version but if MyHome comes out with one first I might take a look at it.

Anyway, I still haven’t figured out exactly what it would buy me but glad to see more devices adding Vera support.

I had Control4 several years ago for a few months right before Vera came out and I made the switch over to Z-Wave.
Control4’s policy back then was you had to buy the products from an authorized dealer who also had to perform the installation and setup. I don’t know if it’s the same policy today…

JOD.

Its pretty much the same today. There are a few companies out there like http://www.shophhts.com/ that will let you sidestep the dealer. I’ve also seen a few people on ebay that will charge you $25 and up to program new functionality into your system.

I was mainly interested in Control4 for the 10’ experience and controlling all my devices from the TV. However, with the new SQ Remote app for the iPad this becoming a mute point.

P.s Anyone know of an IR Blaster that SQ remote and Vera work well with besides the SQ Blaster? my budget for AV control was $200 and I need to control 2 TV’s / Zones.
