Connecting Powermax to Vera 3 using USB to TTL Serial Console cable

I have an old Visonic Powermax alarm panel: http://www.visonic.com/Data/Uploads/PowerMax_English_User_Guide_DE5450U7.pdf

I want to connect this panel to my Vera 3. On the back of this unit, it has a 4 pin connector (please see attached photo). I believe just like the new Powermax panels, only 3 pins are used: TXD, GND, and RXD. And looking at the photo, indeed only 3 pins are connected to the board.

I bought this USB to TTL serial console cable from ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/121191683482

Thing is, I do not know the pin out of the Powermax panel to connect the above cable. Anyone know it? I also just noticed that it says “RS-232” on the panel…and the cable I bought is TTL which is 3.3volts. Will this work instead of purchasing the Powermax RS232 module, which is much more expensive and very hard to find?

Thanks!

Did you ever get this working? I have the same (per your PDF linked) Powermax panel as you do, and just picked up a Veralite, and am wanting to know if I am able to interface with the panel or not.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, I haven’t had the opportunity to try it out yet.

Ah, bummer, I hoping not to have to upgrade my panel (happy with it), but cannot find the 4-pin rs232 adapter for the original powermax anywhere, and hoping to roll my own solution if need be.
