I would recommend a Chamberlain MyQ model and use it combination with the MyQ plug-in. This has the benefit of using the native garage opener to control open/close actions, as well as provide state information (open vs. closed). The MyQ service has no use fees, and the myQ plug-in uses the account to log-in and provide status and actions.
I have an older garage door (Craftsman) that I used prior to the MyQ and integrated it with a linear control and a door sensor switch, and it works fine too. However, I prefer the Chamberlain setup, especially if you are already replacing/adding an opener. With MyQ, you also get the added safety benefit of the door provide an alarm/notice prior to closing, and the safety mechanisms still work.
I agree with CoreDex. Either get the MyQ if you want something nicer and can pay the price. Or Get a cheap generic open close 2 wire unit.
Problem will come when you try and get something in between. I personally have 3 garage doors (old style) and an Electric driveway gate all running off 4 separate MIMOlite and the Garage door app.
MIMOlite has a 2 wire input for a door sensor of your choice. Has a z-wave relay to open and close the door. Comes with a 12v wall wort. Cost 60.00
That looks like a nice garage door opener. I see it’s not compatible with Homelink without the use of a repeater. Anyone using Homelink with the MyQ? I kind of like not having loose remote controls in the car that be taken.

I think the main purpose of the MyQ and the Vera is to use your phone not to carry around garage openers. Ofcourse they come with them tho.
With that being said I don’t see a problem getting it to work. Some say it works but if not its 25.00 to make it work with the repeter. I don’t think 25.00 should hold you back if you like the opener.
I did buy the HomeLink adapter as well (yes, good old physical buttons are still good, especially for the wife!)
I actually had trouble setting it up, and didn’t have a chance to go back to it yet (provided opener remote has been the holdover when buttons are needed). I did see many others in Amazon reviews say it was working fine, so I’m assuming installer/operator error here.
Yup (different model GDO). Need of the repeater (assuming we’re talking about the same thing) depends on the age of your car / HomeLink version in your car. Why that isn’t integrated is a different question.

MyQ/Assurelink* via Vera (or via an app talking to Vera) works most of the time. Every so often the door won’t react. But I’ve noticed if I login to the MyQ/Assurelink app instead the door doesn’t always respond either. Even when I try the My! app first it doesn’t 100% of the time work right away.
Assurelink is Craftsman’s branded version of the MyQ system and the plugin can control that as well with 2 simple edits of one of the plugin files.
For now it’s working well enough for me not to mess with it as I still have the remotes in both vehicles as a backup.
Thanks for all of the input, much appreciated.
I’m going to buy two of the MyQ today with the repeaters. As you guessed, the wife wants her Homelink buttons.
I have not looked at what is meant by repeater in this context, but I did have to get a little box from Chamberlain that converts old HomeLink commands into new commands. I believe you can find out online if your (older) vehicle needs it. None of this is clear from the GDO marketing/packaging, but I had found hints online. Call them up, say you are considering a new GDO but now it seems you may need an expensive converter box, or buy the 2015 model of your <insert older year, luxury brand vehicle, search online for what to say> just to upgrade the HomeLink buttons, and you are not interested in either. Magically, they will just charge you 7 bucks shipping or so and that’s it. (The repeater (partially) negates the benefits of a backup battery on your GDO, unless you keep the repeater on a UPS.)
