Chamberlain/Liftmaster MyQ Plugin

The MyQ server uses a long ‘security key’ that authenticates the sender as the official MyQ smart phone app. The plugin provides those keys to the MyQ server (based on manufacturer setting) to fool the MyQ server into believing the plugin actually is the official MyQ smart phone app. It doesn’t appear they have changed the Craftsman key as my garage door is still working. (It actually uses a development rather than the production key for the Craftsman access)

Chamberlain has been to say the least difficult with 3rd party access to their servers so they could have unleashed some gremlins to make 3rd party access more difficult. Unless that new WiFi model you use has a different device ID that the plugin is not supporting.

My Assurelink setup since last December is more or less the backup to my Z-Wave Telguard GDC1 opener that is directly connected to Vera so I don’t have to go through the MyQ servers.

Is there a way for me to check for the device id? Is there a list of supported device ids?

Unfortunately I don’t have the sources for the current version of the plugin. The ones I have are quite old and pre the rework done to make the plugin more stable. The reason I have the sources is that I added the Craftsman support to the original plugin.

I could have sworn there was discussion a while back about the new WiFi version. You may want to PM the current plugin maintainer and see if he can provide any insight.

Also checking vera’s LuaPNP log may give you some more insight. The InfoViewer plugin can help with that.

I didn’t find HD960WF on the Chamberlain site. Is this there new WiFi controlled unit? I have an older Chamberlain where I had to “learn” the codes for MyQ.

It is possible that this plugin was only for the older model version, not the garage with the wifi built into it that came out recently.

I’m not 100% sure but just a guess. The dev for this plugin hasn’t been around in a long time so not sure what else can be done.

To the best of my knowledge, there are the following models for Chamberlain and Liftmaster.

CIGBU - Chamberlain MyQ Internet gateway (http://www.amazon.com/Chamberlain-CIGBU-MYQ-Internet-Gateway/dp/B00B7CDSQ8/ref=pd_sim_60_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=18YYG03KVEHQ60KCTFKC)

I Just got a response from Marc on their Facebook page regarding adding MyQ functionality, he said “Later on this fall it will be integrated when we add Apple Home Kit through the iOS app.”

Oh Fsck! Homekit? I sure hope that doesn’t mean Vera gets fitted a straightjacket and put inside the walled garden. If so, time for me to look for another HA controller. ::slight_smile:

LOL, you know I looked up what BOFH was, bastard operator from hell. Am I right? Anyways, here’s the latest and greatest since you mentioned looking for another controller: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/b-one/the-future-of-smart-homes-bone

I’m assuming its new. I bought it from home depot:

It will be integrated with what? With vera or only with Apple HomeKit? I kinda wish I had waited until Apple Homekit to see which direction HA will take before I invested. But I didn’t, so oh well… I do it as a hobby anyway but still would be nice for it to “just work”…

That unit looks just like mine, except it uses wifi to connect directly to your router instead of having the Internet gateway connected to your router. As long as it uses MyQ I would think any door opener would work. I use MyQ with an old opener from 1999, and it shows up through the Wink hub, pebble watch app.

@googleninja: Ah! your GDO has MyQ WiFi built in. Chances are it has a ‘new’ device ID that’s not understood by the MyQ plugin so it never goes to the door/gate discover subroutine…

@tomtcom: Note to self: Obtain van, carpet and related equipment. And no thank you Kickstarter. This thing tries to be a jack of all trades and I fear it’ll be a master of none. I’m keeping a close eye on OpenHab and less so on Homeseer. With free Windows 10 upgrades for the next year, that may be an option with it being cheap enough to dedicate eg a cheap NUC to it or even an existing HP N40L microserver I am using for testing now.

I’m assuming he means integrated with Vera like they did with Works with Nest (which is just a plugin created by them).

I think Vera has relied way too heavily on its community of developers making their hardware work with so many other products, and haven’t rewarded those developers. I’ve looked through their Facebook page and when potential users ask if a certain device works with Vera, they immediately point out that there’s a plugin for that. But it’s never really explained to the potential customers that some plugins can just stop working and the user who developed the plugin is no longer working on the project.

Sorry this turned into a rant…

Good call BOFH. I forgot about NUC. I don’t have a true problem with Vera. I can do cool things, got 1 crappy sensor needs to be replaced, and the rest is done with Tasker and AutoVera. So I’ll see where I’m at in the future. My problem is TCP port 5228 for GCM constantly closing when my phone sleeps and nothing I try wakes it up so my push alerts are delayed. My Vera technically works perfectly fine. The same goes for MyQ. When the phone is awake and active the MyQ alerts come through nearly perfectly and on time but when it’s not it’s a 50/50.

I created a wink account just to see if it would find my garage door and it did! I can control my garage door through the wink app on my phone. I’ve been trying to figure out if it’s possible to connect my vera to that wink account to control the garage door through the wink app from vera but can’t get it to work. All roads lead to failure! I may have to just wait until they integrate it this fall. Or bite the bullet and try to find my device ID and figure out how to add it to the myq plugin…

Have you tried using the Wink Connect plugin? It’s fairly simple to setup and the author is very active in the thread.

@googleNinja: I second the WinkConnect plugin suggestion. As MyQ requires it’s own cloud access (causing a delay in response) anyway, using Wink and it’s reliance on the Wink cloud causing a delay is not an issue. I switched to the Telguard GDC1 as it talks directly to Vera so no internet access (and the delay that causes) needed.

@Tomtcom: Both my Ui5 and UI7 Vera3’s are also doing quite a good job for me and I’m perfectly happy to stick around as long as the platform stays as open as it is and allows me to run full local if need be. About my only gripes right now are with the buddy support of Vision door/window and Glass break sensors. As these still do not correctly untrip. It was fixed for the PIR sensors a month or so back though. A lot of my warm and fuzzies is courtesy of 3rd party developers though. I’d be hard pressed to do what I do without the Virtual Panel, Blue Iris, Yamaha, Multiswitch and iDoorContact plugins. Unfortunately it seems some of their developers seem to be AWOL.

As far as notifications go, my LG G2 (lollipop) does quite a good job on that using the (beta) Vera Mobile app. Especially as they get neatly routed to my LG G watch and show up there. Although my #1 app still is AuthomationHD. Although SmartAbode rocks letting me easily control Vera via my LG G watch.

The reason I keep an eye on OpenHab and HomeSeer is to have a plan B in case something happens to Vera. I am to used to have my home take care of certain tasks that make my life easier. I don’t want to loose that.

Sorry that’s what I tried to say. I took these steps:
1- Sign up for wink account
2- added garage door to wink app on smartphone and it works
3- installed wink connect plugin and added credentials and tried resyncing a few times. Also tried rebooting and that didn’t help.

Nothing shows up. The status says “ready” but it doesn’t work. I’ve read that the wink connect plugin may not work well with UI7 and myq. It looks like users on UI5 had better luck with myq through wink connect.

Post over in the Wink Connect thread and I’m sure we can get it working. I’d help troubleshoot here but this thread is for the MyQ plugin.

Thanks, I just made a post over there. It sounds like since my HD950WF is new they changed the device ID or they’ve changed the way it communicates just enough that the MyQ plugin (at the time of this writing) is not compatible.

For anyone that’s run across this thread, I’ve made a post here:

Follow that link if you’d like to see if I how they get it fixed through the Wink Connect plugin.
