Chamberlain/Liftmaster MyQ Plugin

Version 1.8 of the plug-in has just been published to the app store. Only real change is to exclude certain garage door opener devices if the device information indicates there is no garage door opener actually in use.

UI7 doesn’t always appear to auto-update. To update your plug-in you can use the following link when you are on your local network. Copy and paste the link into a web browser, and replace YOURIP with the ip address of your vera:

YOURIP:3480/data_request?id=action&serviceId=urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:HomeAutomationGateway1&action=CreatePlugin&PluginNum=7386&Version=25961

@tomtcom : After installing this, your “extra” door lock / garage door device should disappear after luup restarts. Let me know if you have any issues.

Thanks Joey, I’ll try and check it out tonight!

I got this error with the URL

Nevermind, looks like it auto updated to 1.8! Problem for me is resolved!

Both my UI5 and UI7 Vera3 units updated the plugin to 1.8 by themselves…

I just tested the v1.8 plugin against the latest UI7 firmware 1.7.513 and it opens and closes the garage door without issue and both the setup page and the advanced page are active.

Thanks for the feedback, both of you!

Quality job Joey!

I forgot, both UI5 and UI7 units now display the MyQ icon on the parent device.
Bang up job Joey!

On an unrelated note, are are trying to corner the whole Vera plugin market now?

Thanks a lot for the update, JoeyD, I appreciate it a lot!

Shhhhhh…I’m trying to be little discreet about it. First the Vera plugins…and then the world.

LOL! That’s why he’s all over this forum…world domination!

I’m just checking to see if this plugin works with the Chamberlain MYQ-G0201 MyQ-Garage. My garage door opener does not have MyQ built in (where I think you’d only need to buy the MyQ Internet Gateway), however, I see this one will work with non-MyQ enabled garage doors:

Thanks.

This is the unit I have. I confirm it works and very well might I add.

That’s awesome news. Thanks.

There are other options as well… I upgraded my non-MYQ opener (Liftmaster 3800 - Security+ opener) with a MYQ-enabled control panel (Liftmaster 888LM) and paired it with a Chamberlain Internet Gateway (CIGBUC) and it works perfectly… With the added benefit of not needing to install a door sensor on the garage door, and having an auto-close feature (built into the 888lm)… The cost is about the same as getting the universal MYQ controller package, but it integrates much more cleanly… Do a bit of research to find out if your opener model is upgradeable to MYQ.

So if I were to buy a new MyQ enable garage door opener (it appears that mine just died this morning), what do I need to make it work? Do I need the MyQ gateway installed or can the MyQ enabled opener talk directly to the Vera? In other words, does the MyQ add-in use the gateway or does it allow my VeraEdge to talk directly to the opener? By using the MyQ add-in, I do not need the MyQ service, correct?

Incorrect. The plugin talks to the MyQ Cloud/server which in turn tells your garage door opener what you want it to do. Without internet, the plugin, just as the iOS/Android MyQ app is unable to control your garage door.

Hey JoeyD,

I understand the plugin uses a door lock as its basis but just noticed that it says 1% for the battery and I get why. Not trying to nitpick but anyway I could remove it or make it say 100% since it’s a plugged in item?

Hello folks,

Hope you all can provide some diagnostic assistance. Have been using MyQ app successfully for several months, however some combination of the 1.8 upgrade and the 1018 Vera firmware upgrade have now made the app unstable. Basically it will only run ok for 10 minutes up to about a day before it stops. The “last check” and “last auth” time stamps stop incrementing and operation of the door does not trigger updates to the device status in Vera (locked/unlocked). Reboot will trigger it to work but as noted it will fail unpredictably. Have uninstalled and reinstalled the app with no apparent improvement.

** Update 4-13-2015: Reloading Luup seems to kick start the app once again. I’ve confirmed this manually (Develop Apps->Serial Port->Reload Luup) but also through observation. Did some cleanup recently after the firmware update, fixed a couple of devices that got “broke” and removed an app. Noticed that the 2-3x/day “Vera Startup” alerts were gone. So in actuality, I can’t say for certain when the MyQ app stopped working on Vera. I suspect I was lulled into false sense of security because the regular startups were frequent enough that I failed to notice when the app was hung. Now that’s cleaned up and the problem with MyQ app is apparent.

Access using the MyQ iOS app is fine, can login, see status and control no problem.

Any suggestions?

Can someone point me in the right direction to installing and using this app? I’m on UI7 running app version 1.8. I downloaded the app but not sure what I have to do next to get this working.

  1. Installed App
  2. Went to “myqsetup”
  3. entered my username/password and set brand
  4. MyQ App found 1 garage door and 1 lighting device
  5. ? not sure what to do next

edit
Got it working like a charm. I was looking in the wrong place on the UI. Thanks for the awesome plugin, so much better than the myq app!
