I have a ceiling fan on my patio with a pull chain but no wall switch. Is there a z-wave controller I can put in there, and control with either my app or perhaps with the minimote or even the scene controller button pad?
Thanks.

You could use something like the Aeon Labs DSC26103-ZWUS - Z-Wave In-Wall Micro Controller installed in the fan’s canopy or electrical box.
If the fan has a light, you might want to use something like the Enerwave ZWN-RSM2 Dual Relay Switch Module which would allow you to remotely control the fan and the light separately.
Keep in mind that won’t allow you to adjust the fan speed, just on and off. IF you want speed control, the only thing I have found that works as an in-canopy module is the Insteon FanLinc (http://www.smarthome.com/fanlinc-insteon-2475f-ceiling-fan-and-light-controller-fixture-module-dual-band.html), but that requires a PLM module and Altsteon (not sure if that is comatible with UI7) or an ISY 994i box (http://www.smarthome.com/isy994i-home-automation-controller-with-insteon-dual-band-plm.html). Not really a cost effective solution for only one fan though.
You could also attempt to use a standard canopy remote module and try to hack zwave switches to the remote buttons or use MySensors with Arduino if you were more adventurous.
