can't wipe zwave settings from trane thermostat

hey everyone- i need some help.

unfortunately when parts of my network became corrupted, i used the “remove dead node” button in UI4 which apparently, as i’ve learned is tantamount to punching myself in the crotch repeatedly.

now my trane thermostat cannot be re-paired- because the menu options only allow it to be removed, and of course that doesn’t work, even though i’ve tried to remove it using my vera two in exclude mode with the battery pack.

so i’m basically screwed- i’ve tried the hidden installer menu on the trane, i’ve tried to factory reset, i’ve tried removing it from the wall, but there’s a small battery that preserves the config, so that failed.

does anyone know of anything i can do on the trane itself or on my vera2 to try to exclude it so i can re-join it to the network?

Dissconnect power, let it sit overnight. Connect power and try excluding again. Vera needs to be within 6" when excluding.

JOD.

If you have another primary controller, try using that to exclude it.

After resetting the Z-wave network, I just left the thermostat overnight. By morning, I could re-add it.

I haven’t been able to clear it for two days of keeping the thermostat unplugged. Seems as though there is a back up battery of some sort?

Help!!

Excluding with Vera didn’t work?

I went into exclusion mode and it didn’t work. Is there a way of clearing the unit as if it’s from factory?

I have already restored my Vera as well as clearing the zwave devices from Vera.

did u ever solve this?

Can you state your thermostat model? (This issue appears pretty old and there have been firmware upgrades since then.) (Edit: TZEMT400BB3NX presumably)

You are not able to exclude your thermostat with Vera?

i realized i was doing a newbie error and putting vera in exclude mode wrong. When i took my vera right up to it, pressed battery, let it get stable and then hit - , then excluded it worked (light fluttered).
