I am a happy Vera 2 (UI4) user, and reasonably adept at configuring it.
At a different location, today I installed a VeraLight, and managed to brick it, probably by messing up the network settings whenI assigned it a static IP. I can see the IP number on the network, but I can’t address it in my browser, nor can I ping it, or SHH into it.
I spent 1:30 on the phone with a Tech Support person who was knowledgeable. She remoted in, but could not get it going either.
In the process of working with Tech Support, I learned that the reset button on the VeraLite did not work with the firmware it had been shipped with!
So, if you can’t SSH in or get web access, you’re dead.
I bought the VeraLite through Amazon, so I can return it easily.
I did some research on this board (I read it frequently) and saw this “no reset button” thread from a year ago. I am surprised that a new unit shipped with such old firmware.
Also, the firmware flash tools are PC only. I did find a wiki page for a Mac OS X solution, but it looked very out of date.
What’s the state of affairs about doing a factory reset on a VeraLite?
