It looks as if i need to replace my Vera lite with another one as mine is faulty. I have set up Homewave, and do not want to reprogram everything again. Obviously the new one will have a different serial number. Is it possible to just somehow link my current homewave screens and settings to the new Vera ? Or do i have to start with a blank screen and start from zero ?
You can change your HomeWave connection settings (Serial, IP, Username, Password) through the iOS Settings screen.
Thanks. At least i am not loosing all the work ! If i am really lucky maybe my Vera can be fixed…
You can also use your last backup on your old Vera to initialize your new Vera.
I hope you did a Z-Wave backup recently … Then all of your Z-Wave devices can be quickly paired to your new Vera.
I remember i did a zwave backup a few days ago, i dont think i added anything after. Do i have to include all my old devices to the new Vera ? It doesnt just work if i restore everything ? And what do i restore first, the backup or the zwave backup, if that makes any difference
@RichardTSchaefer before i forget, did you find anything in my logs ? I wonder if my Vera fault (think it might be corrupted firmware) has caused these strange errors in PLEG
You do not need to re-include everything!
Do a restore on your new Vera and select the box that says you want to restore Z-Wave.
After that DO not turn on your old Vera, unless you reset the Z-Wave chip first.
I was thinking of upgrading to a Vera 3, and keeping my old Vera lite (if it can be repaired/restored) as a backup controller. Having been without a controller for a few days now, i would like to have a backup… is that feasible ?
Yes, But clear the Z-Wave chip in it away from your home … You can always move a backup from the New Vera back to the old vera if you have a problem with the new one.
I am buying a new Vera, as the old one is still out of action. So transfereing everything over to the new one should not be a problem. The problem will be when/if micaseverde support come back to try and fix my old Vera lite. Can i just take the new one off line, and put the old one back on to tinker with it until its running again ? Then swap for the new one again ?
