Can assist with various cameras

I just want to throw this out there for anyone that has questions or needs some help in the future. I’m a big fan of these forums as I have had my own vera set up for about 2 years now. Would love to be able to offer my own expertise if you need it!

I’m Engineer for an Australian CCTV Distributor with about 10 years experience with CCTV systems, specialising in the IP equipment. This not only means I have experience, but I have unique access to many of the chinese manufacturers, and in some cases can get bug fixes and custom firmwares.

Dahua (Australia distributor and R&D Officer) - Access to all products, firmware and softwares.
Hikvision (also Swann) - Access to most products and firmwares
Arecont - Access to most products and firmwares
Dynacolor - Access to most products and firmwares
Avtech - Access to most products and firmwares
Stardot - Access to most products and firmwares
Axis - Access to most products and firmwares

Cool thanks. A lot of people also ask about VistaCam but Vera seems to have that one locked down. I don’t really even know who makes it.

Vistacam seems to be MicaseVerde’s brand of IP camera’s. Judging from the design for eg the Vistacam PT, I’d say it’s most likely sourced from one of the Chinese Foscam clone makers and slapped with the Vistacam brand.

I’ve learned my lesson with Foscam. There’s indeed a reason they are low price. ZModo ones aren’t bad but I’m starting to lean towards Hikvision/Swann if I need any more replacements. Axis unfortunately is way out of my budget.

Be warned however (some insider info) Swann was just recently bought out by the american owned Infinova Group. They themselves are a CCTV manufacturer and have cancelled all future dealings with Hikvision, in favor of using their own unbranded gear.

This means Swann will no longer be using rebranded Hikvision and I can almost guarantee there will be a drop in quality and device features.

Just go buy Hikvision or Dahua gear direct (as they are virtually clones of each other). Theres quite a bit on ebay.

Thank You for that invaluable info!

I have a Lorex LNR380 network video recorder system connected to 8 cameras. I have tried various configurations to try to integrate with VERA but have had no success. Any suggestions as to how I can make this work? Thanks

Hi ndwalters,

You might be able to help me, I’m testing a dahua ipcam hfw ipc3200cp.
I have been searching without success a direct url stream. Not for snapshot but for video streaming. It hasn’t to be he, mjpeg is ok. Can you help me?

Have you checked the ISpy Dahua list? The VLC in the below list refers to the free VLC program you can use to access the cemera for testing.

HFW3200C FFMPEG rtsp://IPADDRESS:554//cam/realmonitor
HFW3200C JPEG http://IPADDRESS:554/cgi-bin/snapshot.cgi?loginuse=[USERNAME]&loginpas=[PASSWORD]
HFW3200C VLC http://IPADDRESS//axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi

Yes I did, I just can’t find a stream url, only snapshot is working

Hi ndwalters, I am having problems adding Swann NHD-820 cameras in Vera, any suggestions what the streaming url would be?

hi ndwalters,

i am having trouble with cameras here:

Maybe you assist?

Thanks!

I really do apologise for not being able to update this sooner. Try the following links through chrome or VLC first to see if they work.

Most cameras can be connected under CGI-JPEG, MJPEG, RTSP such as:

http://x.x.x.x/cgi-bin/snapshot.cgi?channel=0
http://admin:admin@x.x.x.x/cgi-bin/snapshot.cgi?channel=0
http://x.x.x.x/videostream.asf
http://x.x.x.x/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi
rtsp://x.x.x.x:554
rtsp://x.x.x.x:554//cam/realmonitor
rtsp://admin:admin@x.x.x.x:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0

You may also be able to use the ONVIF interface (universal camera protocol). To test this, use the ONVIF Device Manager tool to scan for you camera. You can also check for firmware updates to include ONVIF as it is now extremely common. This will enable you to use commands such as:

http://x.x.x.x:9989/onvif/media_service/snapshot.jpg <---------The One I use-------------
http://x.x.x.x:9989/onvif/media_service/snapshot.jpg?channel=1&subtype=1
rtsp://x.x.x.x:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0&unicast=true&proto=Onvif

If you happen to have a NVR as well as some CCTV cameras, typically you can pull the stream from the NVR itself and select which camera you want to see, by adding “?channel=1” to the end of the link.

Hi, maybe you can help with this. I have a Sricam outdoor camera, and I can see the video feed when I access my vera box via the web browser, but I can’t see it when I use the mobile app. The URL I’m using is /videostream.cgi?user=XXX&pwd=XXX

Tks!
