I have purchased a few CA600 dimmer switches for my new home. The current switches are directly wired to one of the outlets in each room. On those particular outlets, the top plug is always hot, and the bottom is controlled by the switch. I plan on using lamps with dimmable bulbs on these plugs with the CA600’s but I want to make sure that plugging in any other type of device/electronics will not get damaged if plugged into the top always “hot” receptacle? Thanks
The top outlet would be wired separately, so should be independent from the bottom outlet. But frankly, I wouldn’t have a dimmer control a receptacle like that. There is no guarantee someone will plug something non-dimmable into the bottom socket, either by accident, or because they didn’t know, or because they forgot, etc.

Thanks for the reply oTi@, yea I’m planning to eventually install ceiling drops to replace the switched outlets, just need to find the time to do it after this busy move. Thanks again
