I bought a Vera 2 off ebay from MiCasa directly. Now I want to include a device, but I think I received a physically broken unit. Instructions state to press the z-wave button. But I’m not sure where this button is…
On the back of the unit between the power plug and USB there is the wording “Z-wave” next to a hole.
Between the USB and Ethernet2 there is a button without any wording but pressing it does not make the z-wave light blink.
is there supposed to be a button where the hole is?
What is the purpose of the unnamed button?
I just got a Vera2 as well. The z-wave button is between the USB plug and the power connector. It’ s a little black stub, just like the other one. I wonder if yours fell out.
I’ve added about 15 devices so far and have yet to use that button. I used the add devices option in UI4 and now UI5 which makes the z-wave light blink. I was able to bring Vera close to my zwave devices.
You may want to check with a MiCasaVerde rep on here but a small plastic or wood toothpick pushed in the hole will probably operate the switch. (something non-conductive)
Thanks for the clarification. The button must be broken off the PCB. There is nothing even on the inside…
I’m running all over the house with 2 long CAT5 wires and a switch in the middle. :
I switched my Vera to be a WiFi client, so I just need power. Then I can drag it to whatever room, plug it in, wait for it to boot, and do the include or exclude.
I have to RMA my unit to MiCasa.
Question is, do I need to de-associate all the devices I associated first? I don’t want to start from a backup when I get a new unit, I would rather start fresh.
Thx. I had a thermostat associated with a remote and I first had to exclude it from the remote before I could add it to vera. If I understand correctly, I could also have excluded it first from vera and then added it, without digging up the remote?
Correct; you could have done the exclusion from Vera (but then you need some way of letting the other controller (i.e. the remote) forget about it; so the way you did it is probably ‘cleaner’ in this case).
