We currently have a Brinks/ADT hard wired security system and a Nexia z-wave front door system.
If we cancel Brinks/ADT, is there any way at all we can use the existing door sensors with our zwave system? They are hardwired and hidden, and I would love to use those rather than zwave sensors on the outside of the doors.
Is there a panel I can replace the old Brinks panel with? Or is there something I can wire each of them to in the main Brinks/ADT wire box. Any help you can offer would be awesome, thanks.
There are quite a few alarm systems that are integrated with Vera that you can utilize the sensors with.
The only thing you may have to worry about is matching end of line resistors (you may not have any at all) that the door contacts may have (which might actually be fitted in the panel end) with whatever panel you decide to go with.
Your existing panel may already be compatible though if you can find out what it is?
Do you happen to know if we cancel our ADT monthly service, would the door chime still be active? I got to thinking about that and that should still be powered even if we don’t have a monthly account. Any thoughts?
