Bought Nexia bridge to update Schlage BE469 firmware

I have (3) Schlage locks on my VeraLite network, (2) running firmware 5.8 and (1) running firmware 5.6

I just bought a Nexia bridge on eBay for $20 bucks and signed up for the 30-day trial, to try and update the firmware of all my locks to whatever is the latest. Other than for the purpose of updating the firmware of my locks, I have no need for the Nexia bridge.

I found the section where to update firmware in Nexia, but cannot get my lock to update firmware. Does anyone have any experience with doing this?

No experience but I just purchased this lock about two weeks ago and the firmware it came with is 6.8. I would guess your update should be at least that current.

Off topic, are you able to receive vera notifications for Bad Pin, door doesn’t lock, etc?

I would call Schlage/Nexia as their customer service is stellar.

If it is possible to update the firmware via Nexia, do let us know as I would love to update mine. I have a Schlage hub in a drawer that came with one of them.

My firmware on (2) locks is 5.8, and on (1) lock it’s 5.6. None of them are updated to the latest.

You have to create a Notification for each type of event you want to trigger.

I can confirm that Schlage customer service is excellent. One of the FW 5.8 locks is a replacement they sent to “update” the FW 5.6 lock that I bought on Amazon. They never asked for the FW 5.6 lock back, and in fact said they don’t want it, and I could keep it.

I figured, hey, why not gamble and buy a Nexia bridge for $20 bucks and maybe I can update the FW 5.6 lock (which they told me to keep) to the latest version and have another up-to-date lock. It works in every other regard, but freezes with the “black screen of death” randomly, as well-known about with FW 5.6 locks.

So, I don’t want to calll Schlage about this lock – they already replaced it. But I figured if I can update the FW with Nexia, then I can actually use it. Worst case, I would just use it on a door as a standard manual keyed deadbolt and disable the FW 5.6 electronics since they aren’t reliable.

I joined the Nexia Subscriber Community forum (requires purchase and registration of Nexia bridge and invitation).

Here’s the answer. Bottomline – I wasted $20 bucks on eBay. Schlage BE469 (BE469NX) firmware updates over Nexia bridge have been disabled since 09/06/2013.

Further collaboration with Schlage was needed and their teams have pursued other objectives at this time. Any lock at version 5.8 or greater includes all appropriate updates. …and just to make sure that I didn’t leave a stone unturned, I asked if there was a manual way or alternate way of updating the firmware. Answer: No.

[b]UPGRADE SCHLAGE BE469 DEADBOLT FIRMWARE[/b] I see that the Schlage BE469 deadbolt firmware update via Nexia bridge has been disabled since 2013. Is there a way that I can update the firmware of my BE469 (from 5.6) manually or some other way, without sending my lock to Schlage for the update or an exchange? There are problems with 5.6, where the touchscreen freezes up.

While Schlage is now a separate company from Nexia, I'm confident the 5.6 firmware has no impact on keypad operation of this lock. I suspect there is another unrelated issue with your particular lock, but Schlage would need to determine this definitively.
