Blue Iris, Doorbell Cam, Email Photo

I need some advice.

I have Blue Iris with about 20 interior and exterior cameras.
Connected to my Vera are all my alarm sensors(about 70), and all my z-wave devices.
I have an alarm sensor “Doorbell” that is actually a wireless window/door sensor.
For a while now, I have been migrating away from my ADT Pulse HA system to Vera.
One of the last fragments still on the old Pulse system is this: When someone rings the doorbell, I get a text message and 3 emails with embedded photos from 3 cameras(doorbell, front porch, and front yard).
It’s nice to see photos of who rang the doorbell whether I’m at home or away. I want to move this functionality over to Vera/Blue Iris so I can be rid of the ADT Pulse system.

I can easily send notifications for the doorbell via some combination of VeraAlerts/Prowl/Homewave, but what I really want to do it also send an email containing the photos from the three cameras. I prefer one email with three photos, but three separate emails would be fine too.

I’m looking at “Vera Webcam Dropbox Uploader”, but I’m not sure if I can get the filenames of the uploaded images to attach to an email. I don’t want to go ‘looking’ for the photos. I want them ‘presented’ to me.

Does anyone else have a similar setup?

Below thread should give you a starting point to get this implemented

It looks I can easily do this with VeraAlerts…as long as my cams are devices on the Vera

SMTP via VeraAlerts: Sending a Picture

That’s right, but I’m not sure of the impact of adding that many cams to vera would be.
Someone who knows, please chime in…

You could fire off an HTTP request to blue iris to have it email you from a scene though. (Also)

Unless your just looking for a certain camera to get alerts from?

Blue Iris supports this (if I understand your question correctly) on motion detect.

I have my front porch and back porch cameras to send me an image, and a 10 second video, when they detect motion.

Configure your email server -
Blue Iris Options > Email Servers > Add

Configure camera alert
Right-click > Camera Properties > Alerts > Send an Email message

You can even setup trigger groups (to trigger other camera when there is an alert on one)
Right-click > Camera Properties > Motion/Trigger > Trigger camera groups

I am actually using both methods. When someone rings the doorbell, VeraAlerts sends a Prowl notification and an email with 4 images attached in one email(this are the only 4 cams on Vera), and BlueIris send a push plus an email with video. I know…overkill…

I also get a video when one of the kids opens my garage fridge to sneak one of my mexican cokes.

Haha…he’s a parent!

Wifie thought it was a bit overkill at first…until I install Blue Iris on her phone and started sending her push notifications as well. Now she loves it. Exterior and Interior, I’m up to 26 cams, several are HD. Assigned them to groups like back yard, interior, exterior, interior exits, doorbell cams, drive cams, etc. BI is nice.

I tend to agree with her first statement. 26 cams? Wow. I thought going from my 2 cams to 4 cams maybe too much but you are way ahead of me. Glad you guys love it.

We have 5 kids, tons of people in and out constantly, lots of space, cars, etc. It’s really not that ‘crazy’ when you consider it all.

Just curious, how large is your house (ft^2 wise)?

My house 3025 ft^2 and I have 8 cams. I’m thinking of adding more though.

I have 3 daughters, including 1 teenager. I’m still trying to figure out the logic to detect teenage boys and send me an alert. ;D

I have like 6000 plus garages and studio/apartment.

Aim a camera from above her bedroom window downward. Any movement triggers an alert…

I have developed a vera blue iris cam plugin with Snapshot and Streaming Support, PTZ and Motion sensor support
