Does either controller support garage light function independent of opening the door? I’ve been wanting to go the controller route but would really like to turn lights on without opening the door
Please explain “garage light function”.
Your lights in your garage have nothing to do with these two GDO controllers.
Neither one is capable of switching on/off the lights built into the opener unit itself. They are only capable of sending the pulse interpreted by the opener as open/close garage door.
If you put a zwave controller outlet or switch in the garage that feeds other lights then you can control those via Vera seperately . Eg using a motion sensor.

Actually they do. Some models of GDOs allow the user to activate the GDO light without opening the door. There’s a separate wall switch.

Your referring to GDO lights, I was referring to garage lights “in your garage”. They are not connected using the either the GD00Z or the GDC1 unless all connected to a main controller.
If he is referring to GDO lights, then yes he can get a RM10 and an appliance module to trigger the GDO lights separately. It would require interfacing with the wall button.
Kind of a waste of parts, when you can instead interface with the existing garage lights for less $$'s
My apologies, I was referring to the gdo lights as they are the only source of lighting in my garage atm. Thanks for the info. From what I gather, It seems it would just be more beneficial and less headache for me to put up separate lighting controllable via switch or motion then.

Carlos, you can trigger the GDO’s wall button light switch remotely with a relay and a Z-Wave appliance module. it would require some wiring and soldering to your GDO’s wall button.

I also recommend the Telguard GDC1. Installed it today and everything was a breeze. Worked great the very first time. Which is rare for me, lol.
