Audio over RTSP?

I have hacked the Foscam plugin to work with Toshiba Cameras (IK-WB16A). Got everything working including PTZ and Presets.

However I can not get audio via RTSP. I used the Video URLS workaround but can’t get audio. Is it supported? Has anyone gotten audio working for any camera? Is there a specific codec/bitrate that must be set on the camera?

Assuming the answer is no, does anyone have camera audio on ios/android app for any camera?

I use a D-Link DCS-2230, to have the sound working on my Android phone, I use application IP Cam Viewer Pro (cost less than 3?)
This app support alot of camera’s so you could give it a try, there is the basic version which has ads that is free. I’m not sure if basic version has sound…

AFAIK, Vera doesn’t support streaming audio.

Thanks pvancald/capjay.

That is what I suspected. I likewise had to resort to IPCamviewer as a solution because I couldn’t it to work in vera.

Does anyone know why audio doesn’t work? Is there a major obstacle that must be overcome or was it simply deemed unimportant? I have customers who use their cams for baby/nanny/kids in backyard monitoring and telling them they need to use a different app isn’t good. Hopefully it will be supported soon because people today expect audio with video.

Technically, it’s probably possible to write a plugin for that, and make use of the Relay request (asuming it works correctly) http://wiki.micasaverde.com/index.php/Luup_Requests#relay

Not sure if this works under 1.5.408. Someone running this firmware will have to test it. I know it works under the private beta firmware 1.5.532.
