Aton DLA 6 Speaker Selector IR Codes

I realize this may be of interest to very few individuals, but in the spirit of sharing and contributing to this great community…

Attached to my post is an xml file with all the Aton DLA 6 IR codes, which I extracted from my SQ Blaster Plus/SQ Remote. I’ve gotten as far as creating a very simple Aton “plugin”, just using my own D_Aton.xml and I_Aton.xml files and the S_DiscretePower.xml to turn on/off speaker pair 3. I’ve integrated that into a scene that turns on my receiver, sets the input for my sonos, selects the pair of speakers i want (in a workout room) and starts a playlist. I have to do this in the advanced tab of the scene because i don’t know how to create a plugin UI with buttons, but it works…

Not sure if others (maybe those using GC iTach) will benefit from this, but figured it couldn’t hurt… The Aton box has an IR input that a simple/standard IR extender can plug into (by stripping the 3.5mm plug off and using the bare wires). I have it running 4 pairs of 8" in-ceiling speakers in a newly constructed basement and it pumps out some crisp and loud sound paired with a mid-level Marantz receiver.

Thanks for this post mate.

I’m planning on getting an Aton DLA6 for my new home build in the new few months so this will be handy! I take it that the Aton is a pretty good unit?

I’ve not had a ton of time to spend in my basement with the DLA6 running all 8 speakers (4 pairs) at once, but what I have heard, I like. It is powering four 8" and four 6" in-ceiling and the music (I tend to listen to 90’s rock…Pear Jam, Nirvana, Sound Garden, etc.) has all been as full and rich sounding as I would expect coming directly off the Marantz AV Receiver that is feeding the line-level signal to the Aton. No overheating or emergency shutdown of the Marantz has occurred yet and I’ve had it powering the 2 pair of 8" for a couple hours continuously. I tend to keep the Aton volume setting around 7 or 8 and adjust the receiver volume up/down slightly as needed for various sources and there is plenty of headroom to go well beyond normal “ambient” in-ceiling / in-wall listening levels.

I would definitely recommend it.

Cheers mate. Sounds like a similar set up to what I am wanting so sounds like the way to go.

I’m looking for a whole house setup also.

I take it this has no amplification, so what size wattage receiver is it going to take to power a DLA 6?

I have a Cheap non HDMI receiver that got retired a few rears back (due to no HDMI) and wanted to use that. It’s ok for a some tower speakers in the 5.1 but will come up short for this project?

I think it depends largely on what you’re intentions are with it. 6" or 8" in-ceiling speakers for ambient music would be fine as even my very cheap speaker splitter powered by a very low power DVD/Surround Sound combo unit works fine.

However if you’re an Audiophile that was wanting to run 6 sets of Jamo’s then it’s probably not what you’re after.

That said, there’s not much else on offer out there in the price range. The Russound and Sonos powered units are much pricier and only have around 50W/channel so you’re not getting any more power than you would with the Aton and a good receiver.

Not looking for audiophile quality.

Love Sonos and trying to push my father (he got more money and more automation then me because of it) to do Sonos because its easy for him to use. He has a hard time using things.

Thinking about 2 speakers on back porch, 2 on front porch, 2 around the pool, 2 in the garage and so on. Mostly outdoors to start.

With no IR control at his house now I’m thinking of everything needed to accomplish this. Receiver got and speakers no problem. He currently plays Pandora off his phone with a portable Bluetooth speaker now.

I need an easy way for him to turn on receiver, select the right input (just encase he changes it by accident) turn on this splitter, select the rooms but also be able to control and turn on the pandora station. What kind of input are you guys using that can be controlled from outside, and what type of interface. Maybe like the Sonos Connect preamp hooked to the receiver I have then splitter then speakers. Then I need to deal with IR control.

Whats your guys ideas?

What about running one sonos with amp in it to this? Like a zp120? Is that going to sound way worse then having say 6 zone players?

I guess the power output is what I’m stuck on. If a receiver or zp120 is only 50w and you split that 6 times.

Other option is to scrap the 5.1 reciver and buy a 2 channel amp to go with the sonos connect.

Would be about the same price as the sonos zp120 after you get the connect and this amp but maybe have more power out.
