I’m totally new to associations. i have seen a youtube video that walks you through how to do it and i understand the basics. I have one question. How do you choose the group ID? Is this a random number? Or is it defined by the device to which you are assigning the association?
Thanks!
CTZW
The group ID is defined by the device manufacture. Typically it’s 1.
Different groups represent different alerting criteria. For example, on a Fortrezz Temp and Water alarm:
- Group 1 = Both Freeze and water leak alarms
- Group 2 = Freeze alarm only
- Group 3 = Water Leak alarm Only
Why do you want to do associations? Normally, I only use them for things I NEVER want to override (like open closet door, turn on closet light). Otherwise, you should use Vera scenes to control by time of day or bypass when needed.
Agile Humor, thanks for the prompt response, I want to associate a light switch as a 3 way switch, so one button only turns on / off the other switch. What is the group id for lights?
Thanks,
CTZW
On my Aeon Door sensors, it’s group 1. I’d try group 1 and 2 but it’s up to the switch where the update will come.
