Assigning more codes to kwikset 910

I purchased some Kwikset 910’s with zwave, and I paired them to a Honeywell Tuxedo touchpad. The honeywell can only seem to lock/unlock the deadbolt after pairing, so I was thinking I could use my MiCasaVerde USB stick to pair it and then program more codes (only 2 can be programmed on the unit, up to 30 via zwave).

Has anyone ever done this? I can’t figure out how to get this to work!

Has anybody ever reprogrammed ANY kind of door code with a micasaverde or vera?

I just installed a Kwikset 910 last week and set the access code using Vera. So I can confirm that works.

I have only used one code, but I just programmed 2 more and it said it sent them successfully. I am not at home right now so I can’t verify that they are working codes but I imagine they would work.

What particular problem are you having?

Thanks citroen!

I have 2 zwave controllers, but I am only using the Honeywell Tuxedo right now. I have a MiCasaVerde USB stick (Aeon labs I think) that I could use as a secondary but I’d prefer not to if I don’t have to. Or if the Vera definitely works I will buy one and add it as a secondary controller.

I can program 2 codes on the locks themselves, but there is no menu in the Honeywell Tuxedo that I can find to add/change door lock codes. It mentions this ability in the manual for the tuxedo but doesn’t show how to do it.

I was thinking I would plug the MiCasaVerde USB stick into my laptop, pair the tuxedo to it, and then somehow program more codes from my computer. The problem is, I don’t have any software for the USB stick, aside from drivers (it shows up as a COM port).

Sorry, I am using the vera controller only and don’t have any experience using it as a secondary device. All I can say is that it definitely does work as a primary.

Good luck and let us know if you do get it figured out.

I can report that the Baldwin Boulder z-wave deadbolt works very well with the Vera 3. I understand Baldwin and Kwikset are essentially the same from a purely z - wave point of view. I don’t know anything about the Tuxedo unit, however. And I don’t know if the Kwikset 910 is like the Baldwin Boulder.

I just got this unit installed, paired and configured yesterday. With Vera / UI5, you can manage user codes easily via the properties (gear icon) of the lock. I quickly was able to set up 5 user codes for the lock (up to 30 are said to be possible, only two are possible with the lock only). I like that I can create a label for each code within Vera / UI5 that I use to keep up with who I’ve given what codes to.

I’ve set up one trigger so far that sets off a scene (bring up lights in the house) when that code is used and send me a text message that lets me know what code was used and when.

I see there is the ability to limit the use of a code to certain days / times via a schedule. I have not worked with that yet, but intend to.

I don’t have alarm integration with z-wave yet, but it’s on my list, as I would love to see being able to disarm the alarm included with my entry scene.

Hope this helps!

I have had my Kwikset 910 deadbolt for over a year.

My Vera 2 connected easily and I can lock/unlock easily from my computer or phone.
The website does allow me to add codes and remove codes, but I cannot see codes that are manually entered, nor can I clear them.
Codes entered from the website have never worked… I suspect some kind of formatting issue due to the multi-button push required for even #'s, but that is pure speculation.

The only way I can have codes is by manually entering them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have two of these in two locations with veralite (one is a cheaper veralite g). I can definitely set and remove codes remotely, including seeing and removing manually added codes. You might need to poll the node to see the manual codes - they might not be the numbers you have in mind, as the the same button sequence covers multiple codes. They’re named as “User Code #…”. I have notifications setup on “a code was changed using the lock keypad”, which would also fire for remotely added/removed codes.

I have multiple 910’s 2 Vera lites at 2 locations. I have only added up to 5 at one time, but yes you can add, view, delete and assign and name to organize the list from anywhere with vera.

But what I think has been discussed before was the lock can store 2 codes on the main board. These codes I don’t think can be viewed from vera and are separate codes.

So the 910s are same as the 909’s but with an extra RF chip/board on them (you can buy a 909 and the rf chip to make a 910). The 909 stores the 2 codes in main board and these are main codes. From then on with the RF board the rest of the z-wave codes are stored in there.

So if you set 2 codes from the 910 I don’t think those can be changed, viewed or anything from z-wave. If you add the same code in z-wave then you can see it but really its stored in the lock twice once on each board and it gives you the illusion of seeing the main codes but your not.

I installed (2) 8 digit codes manually which I never use to fill the main spots. The on z-wave, I program my normal codes with a name assigned to each and keep track of those only. Also notifications of who enters only work on these codes not the 2 main.

Hope this makes sense.

My impression was that the (expanded) memory on the RF board overlays the memory on the main board, so that the manual codes that are programmed before installing the RF board cannot be used anymore.

And when used with the RF board, the manual codes are assigned to spot 1 and 2. You can set/change them with Z-Wave, but not view them if they were manually programmed.
