Arm alarm when garage door shuts

Hey all,

I’m trying to set my alarm when my garage door closes and disarm when opens, I tried but the problem is, its doing it all the time cause the garage door is already closed.

How do I make it so it’ll only do it once the door is triggered closed and vice versa.

I use Program Logic Event Generator to indicate I am leaving and to arm things.

Actually I have to go down a hall to the garage. So I have a 3-Way-Z-Wave switch that I can detect. I have a Garage Door sensor, and I also have a driveway sensor for activity at the end of my drive.

If I Toggle the Light Switch (I can leave it on if it’s Dark) close the garage door … and have drive way activity in a 5:00 minute interval … my house goes into lockdown … shutdown mode. Actually If I double flick the hallway light … it knows I am preparing to leave … if it’s dark it turns on the garage lights for me.

How are you arming and disarming the alarm? Some alarms require a pulse rather than a continuous state. If yours is one of these, you could use a scene with both an immediate action to set the arm signal and a delayed action to turn that signal back off after a second or two. You would need one scene each for arming and disarming.

Or, you could use RichardTSchaefer’s PLEG plugin which can handle just about any logic and timing requirement even if you don’t need his level of sophistication. :slight_smile:

I’m trying to eliminate my alarm remote, the alarm is a dsc colour touchscreen unit that was setup for me and I’m trying to make things work for me.

I got a remote that I push and hold the unlock button for a few seconds to work if that means anything?

Ok ive tried installing and un-installing, refresh Vera, refresh browser, restart, different web browsers, IE and Chrome and i get Opening pleg_Inputs… on both Program Logic Event Generator & Opening plts_Inputs… on Program Logic Timer Switch, i installed Program Logic Core as well to no success.

I would love to play around with these plugins to make solve allot of other scenes i would like to do but if for some reason mine is not compatible, whats another way around making my alarm arm when only the garage sensor is triggered closed and also disarm when open with maybe a 5min delay so i can close the door without it setting the alarm again.

im running UI5 with
Running Version 1.5.346

i got a DSC PTK5507 touch panel
i have a scene to open and close my garage and a scene to arm and disarm my alarm but i want to be able to use my normal garage door opener to open and close the door and run the scenes.

Any help with the scene and with the plugin would be appreciated.

Now how would i got about making it work?

I would not DISARM when the Garage door opens … if some one steals a remote they can get into your house!

You need to have a pattern of activity that PLEG can determine you are leaving.
Something like an Indoor Door Is closed followed shortly there after by Garage door closing.
I actually turn on a hall lamp followed by Garage Door Closing, followed by Driveway activity.

PLEG Inputs:
InsideDoorClosed - Some door sensor on way to garage is closed.
GarageDoorClosed - The Garage Door sensor indicates it is closed.

Condition:
AutoArm InsideDoorClosed; GarageDoorClosed < 10:00

Add an Action to AutoArm to arm your alarm system.

This gives you 10 minutes from the time the Indoor Door closed to close the GarageDoor;

If you want to add turning on some house lights when the garage door is opened at Night, install the Day or Night plugin and add the following to the PLEG
Inputs:
Night Day or Night Indicate Night
GarageDoorOpened The garage door sensor indicates it was opened.

Conditions:
AutoLightsOn GarageDoorOpened and Night

Actions:
AutoLightsOn Turn on your arrival lights

Cheers for your concern Richard, im doing it more for an ease of access, if they have my garage opener key fob, the have my alarm key fob too, plus i got an insurance policy that i purposely didn’t tell about the alarm system.

ill try figure it out, how would I add say my pool room door switch if it opens after i close my garage door, to disarm my alarm?

It alarms the when i close my garage roller door, but the problem is when I get home and close the garage door behind me, it sets the alarm again, was hoping for a delay of 30 seconds, so when i get out of the car, close the door, i can open the pool room door and it it’ll know not to set the alarm.

Do you have a sensor on the door you use to enter the Garage from the House ?
The logic above will then only arm when the garage door is closed AFTER the inside door is close.

And to disarm:
Add the following inputs:
Armed Alarm system is armed.

AutoDisArm Armed and (Not GarageDoorClosed)

At the moment no, Just purchased one last night so in a week ill give it a crack.

You make sense, so i open the inside door to the garage, close it, open the garage roller door, drive out, close the garage roller door and the alarm will set.

come home, open the garage roller door, disarms alarm, drive in & close garage roller door, open garage door to house and because its done in that order it wont re arm the alarm.
