Who can explain to me what the “_Appliance Module” device is that keeps showing up?
I’m a n00b when it comes the zwave/home control/vera. But I have been writing software for 15 years, so I do know something
one of the default names a new device appears as when you include it into vera.
Are you including an item? Appliance Module is usually the default name given to a plug in on/off module.
If you’re not including an item at the time then Vera is doing it’s annoying habit of randomly spawning new devices. Sometimes you can delete them, sometimes you have to change the parent ID to 1 before being able to delete it, sometimes you need to call Vera support to “hide” the device (they can’t, won’t, or are unable to figure out how to delete it). This behavior is pretty much the straw that broke the camel’s back that is pushing me to OpenHab.
Thanks for the fast replies.
I was able to delete it after reparenting it to 1, but the auto spawn kicked in and just recreated it. After some clicking I figured out it’s attached to the Fibaro Switch I have included (a while back).
When I turn the switch on/off, it turns my light on/off. When I turn the ‘appliance module’ on/off, nothing happens.
It’s kinda bothering me that it’s there for no proper reason except internal workings.
I guess I’ll have to live with it huh?
You could try excluding the switch and including it again. Kind of a pain if you have scenes/PLEG/Lua code written for the device but it may be worth it to you to get rid of it. I just recently had to do it for a temp/humidity sensor that “spawned” 6 motion sensors. Took 10 minutes.
Second option is to contact Vera support. They can hide it from your device view but you’ll still see it pop up in other areas. Out of sight 95% of the time (but still annoys me when I do see it).
Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll try them out tomorrow, starting with exclude/include.
I suggest deleting the phantom device first and then quickly deleting the parent device before the phantom one spawns again. Good luck. Let me know how it works. I have one device Vera hid that I’d like to get rid of.
I could not get rid of it.
Haven’t contacted Vera yet.
I’m actually waiting for SmartThings to come to Europe and buy that instead.
