Anyone know if vistacam allows motion to be used as a trigger

I was thinking of putting one of these at my front window facing my door to trigger the porch lights on with motion and take a snapshot followed by an email notification with image attached.

Can I do this with this camera?

thanks

This could be possible using a plugin, but such a plugin doesn’t exist yet.

Funny that the product description of the vista cam says it support motion based email notification.

You can do this using a motion sensor + light switch + vistacam.

I can’t seem to get my VistaCam motion sensor to send me an email either. I feel like it was misrepresented because the general instructions are not accurate and there are no clear instructions about motion-trigger emails, which for me is key to watching a vacant vacation home. Anyone got an answer how I can get my VistaCam to send me an email on motion trigger?

First you must enable Motion Detection (AdministrationEventMotion Detection). The UI works only on Internet Explorer, because it uses ActiveX. Then go to E-Mail and set up the Primary SMTP Server and E-Mail Setup. Finally go to Event Trigger, check Motion Detection and E-mail.

Thank you - feels like I am almost there. Using IE was part of the problem.
New problem: when inserting my email information for the alert, camera asks for SMTP login name and SMTP password. Based on instructions in Gmail, here I am I inserting my SMTP server address (smtp.gmail.com) and choosing “SMTP Authentication”. For SMTP LOGIN NAME I am inserting my gmail login name (powejr@gmail.com) and password (9 characters) BUT when I hit “save” the password gets changed to something else that is shorter (6 characters) - seems like the system is somehow overriding what I put in?
Thank you very much for your help

John - it does the same for me (enter a 10 character pwd that is represented as 6 dots), but it still works.

MCVFLORIN - will the new vista cams be able to be used as a controllable motion sensor (arm/disarm) like is able to be done with the FOSCAM units?

@wlaurent

All the VistaCams can be used like this. There was a bug in an older plugin version that didn’t allow the motion sensor to be armed/disarmed, but it has been fixed. I’ll try to publish the plugin in the MiOS Marketplace this week.
