Any weathered grade Zwave locks out there?

Been looking for a couple that I can put on my iron gate doors but nothing is popping up. Anyone have a solution?

Only solution I seen is to use a none z-wave lock with a z-wave relay to it. Something like a powered door striker or magnetic lock.

Here’s a kit that I looked into awhile back
https://www.grainger.com/ec/pdf/GTO-FM145-Installation-Manual.pdf

Has a keypad for manual opening and it allows a 2 wire, push button, garage door style switch. That can be hooked to a mimolite or anything else to have unlock and lock like you would with a garage door.

both of my gates takes a standard door knob and deadbolt. hoping to keep that look. This is a cool idea though, I’ll have to give it some thoughts

There is no outdoor standard door knob or deadbolt in a weather proof zwave version.

So unfortunately your gonna have to find something out of the ordinary to use. Next option might be something similar to this.

Looks like Schlage does make a waterproof zwave deadbolt: http://www.amazon.com/Schlage-BE369NX-505-Deadbolt-Technology/dp/B0083GJ14Y

I’ve got the BE469 version on my front door and it has held up in the weather (though the back of the device is inside). Can be locked/unlocked with Vera.

Hope that helps!

I don’t think that’s weatherproof.

Is the backside of it water proof? Does it have a sealed cover to get to the batteries? I think out the outside of all door locks are weather proof due to being outside but they don’t expect the inside of the door to also be outside. LOL

That’s true … I looked up the model I have and it doesn’t mention being waterproof but this model does. Dunno.

Well, its NOT. Also that model doesn’t move the deadbolt to lock it either. So if you leave it unlocked you can;t lock it remotely.

Well, the OP didn’t say if the gates were automatic or if he just wanted to unlock it remotely so someone can turn the lock and come in. But I’ll sleep easy tonight knowing you are an expert on the Schlage product lines.

I actually have more experience with Kwiksets then Schlage, but I hope that doesn’t disrupt your sleep.

This isn’t the first thread asking for this same type of product and that lock has been out for over 3 years so it also has been around for all the other threads. Until a new product comes out designed to be installed fully outdoors (and I’m sure it will sometime) the answer is still the same.

Personally I don’t see it. Most locks are used on doors where there is an indoor part which does not need to be weatherproof. The market for z-wave locks which are weatherproof inside and out must be quite small and return on development would take forever.

You could be right , but I didn’t want to say never ever. LOL

2nd row down to the right they are working on an outdoor gate lock, but it’s still not really what the OP wants. Anyones guess when or if it will have show also.
