Any benefit to getting a nexia Bridge to do updates?

I have 2 schlage locks. One 5.7 and one 5.8 firmware. I believe that 5.9 is out. Is there any benefit to getting a nexia bridge so that I can update the firmware? I dont’ really have any issues with my current locks, but I also don’t like the idea of having to send them in to have the firmwares updated. I know you have to pay for Nexia to do it, but I was thinking it might either be worth the $120 for the year or maybe you could just do a month when you want to update. It will be a hassle to exclude then re-include, but it might be better then returning it to be updated (where you’d probably still have to exclude/include it again).

Edit: I just checked and there is no contract, so $10 hear and there to update firmware might not be so bad. I’ve also seen the bridges go for as little as $30 on ebay.

Thoughts?

I had these thoughts exactly. I’m not even sure if you have to be a Nexia subscriber to update the firmware of the Schlage BE469NX deadbolts or not. Does anyone know?

I assume the firmware is pushed through their gateway, so it doesn’t seem like a bad idea if you can find a bridge on eBay. I can’t find any method to update other than contacting Schlage. I used the Nexia bridge at my old house and I didn’t have any local access to the device, so I would assume you need a service connection.
