Amazon - Aeon Labs DSB09104-ZWUS - Z-Wave Smart Energy Meter $39.98 (Verrsion 1)

Amazon has the Aeon Labs DSB09104-ZWUS - Z-Wave Smart Energy Meter version 1 (With battery) for $39.98 and free shipping.

This is the older version that requires a battery, not the newer generation 2 but for $40 not a bad deal

It is now $34.99. Do they work? I assume it goes out where power comes into my meter? or breaker box?

Best location would be your breaker box.

I assume I would have to remove my panel and fit this device onto my breaker box for best results?

Yup, remove the cover of you panel and hook i up to the incoming lines from your power meter.

I’m waiting on an electrician buddy to come down for Christmas and install it for me. I have enough respect for electricity to know I don’t want to tackle that job myself without a qualified person there.

29.99 now

Anyone figure out how to get Vera 3 to report total wattage on the node? (US power, in breaker panel)

Yes,

Make sure you update the firmware first.

Then try these settings, in the attached screenshots.

@Firebird – Thank You!

I just received mine. Obviously this is left over from a Verizon contract as it refers the user to a Verizon website for installation and inclusion information. after 30 minutes of searching nothing useful at the Verizon site but I know all about Verizon support for healthcare providers in Virginia and how to install FiOS TV — skip this bit of information.

The bottom line is the ZWave inclusion button is in the battery compartment and it installs just like any other ZWave device … why they couldn’t just say so I don’t know  Its included in my network and shows no appreciable impact on the Vera memory or CPU. It does show I’ve used a half KWH since installing, which is interesting as it isn’t connected to the mains supply yet. But …

Maybe more later when I get it connected.

Firebird’s post was dead on for me.

Thanks for reminding me, I installed it without updating the firmware. I’ve plugged it into a USB port but the update doesn’t see the device. i excluded it and it still doesn’t update, no HEM attached ot a USB it says.

Anyone have any ideas what to do now?

Did your computer recognize the HEM?

Yeah, it picked it first try. I suppose it might already be on 3.67?

Mine was not. I suspect yours is not either. Check out the last three digits of the version number in Vera?

Also make sure you have the correct update file.

Yeah, so do I. Version 3.60.

Try a different USB port on your computer or a different USB or both.

I had to fix the update file. It unzipped as a .ex_ file. Appending it to be a .exe fixed it.

already been there, done that. Four different USB ports, two different PCs three different cables … all the same .NADA.

Back to Amazon I guess.
