ALTUI: MyHome page customization

Here is a very simple tutorial to change the picture of a room in MyHome page. Vera acts as a web server serving files from the /www file system root. we take advantage of this to get custom images for this page, this is how it works

BASIC

  1. Choose an image or take a picture
    a. recommanded size 300x213 , edit your image if possible to make sure it is optimized size-wise

  2. Note down the ALTUI ID of the room image you want to change
    a. Example 0-7

  3. Name your image file R_0-7.jpg
    a. Warning capital letter matters. Capital R , lower case .jpg

  4. Connect to your VERA via SSH
    a. For example using winscp tool on windows
    b. You must know your root password to connect to vera

  5. On your vera goto the folder /www

  6. Upload your image file there

  7. Verify that a direct web access to the image works by using the following url:
    a. http://192.168.1.32/R_0-7.jpg

  8. From now on, the MyHome page should show this image for the room ID 0-7

Changing the picture location
if you want to change the picture locations on your vera, for instance, let’s say you want to store pictures under /www/localcdn. in that case :

  1. put your picture in /www/localcdn folder on vera

  2. set the “ImagePath” variable of your ALTUI device to be : “…/localcdn/”
    a. note that the leading “…/” is necessary to make sure it works when used in Remote Access mode
    b. the capital / lower cases letters matters !
    c. verify that http://192.168.1.32/localcdn/R_0-7.jpg gives you the image

Have mercy! I installed WinSCP. But now, would anybody mind giving me the extra steps in detail to access my VeraEdge so I can go on with step 5?
Thanks in advance!

here is a quick set of screen shots

How do I discover my ‘root’ password? I noticed that MCV Support was able to access my system as ‘root’ during a recent remote session, but I forgot to ask them for those credentials.

(Is it the same as my normal MiOS login password?)

UPDATE: According to another thread, the answer is “The password you need is located on the label under your Vera unit assigned to ‘WiFI Pass’.”

This tells you how to get the password
