Alerts stopped working with pushover. Having trouble troubleshooting.

Hi All,

Pushover Alerts stopped working on March 9th. I got a weird alert from a scene that never ran, and nothing since. (I have a scene to alert when the christmas lights were turned on. I received the alert saying the christmas lights turned on, but that scene never triggered… it wasn’t supposed to trigger, nobody turned the christmas lights on)

Anywho, I saw that the new latest version of 1.7 1.7.541 had been updated for vera alerts support, thought that was the problem. I couldn’t update to 1.7.541. I contacted support, and they upgraded me to 1.7.541. Still vera alerts is not functioning.

According to the logs-

I logged into pushover, and I can confirm that the alert account didn’t go up, so the alert never got to pushover.net

Not sure how to troubleshoot? Any ideas?

Thanks!!

Please email me the output from the Vera Alerts REPORT command.
Do not post it … it will contain info that can be used to send messages to your mobile.

I was able to solve this by adding in the AppPushoverID. Leaving it Undefined caused it to not send alerts. I’ve never had it defined, not sure what changed.

If you do not define it … you share a default one … there are only 7500 alerts/month on any AppPushOverID … there must be a few other folks like you using the default one.

I just received this message from Pushover:

Your Pushover application "Vera Alerts" is allowed to send 7500 messages per month, and so far it has sent 6762.

Once your application reaches its monthly limit, it will no longer be able to send messages until the counter resets at the 1st of next month. We’re sending you this e-mail so you can take steps to either reduce your usage or purchase additional capacity.

You can view per-day statistics on your application’s usage and purchase additional message capacity at:

Pushover: Simple Notifications for Android, iPhone, iPad, and Desktop

If you have any questions about this notice, just reply to this e-mail.

I do not send very messages to Pushover during the month … I only use it for testing.
This means that users are NOT defining their own AppPushoverID … and using the default one that I set up. If many users use the default one … I will run out of message quota early in the month.

For how to create your OWN private AppPushOverID and get 7500 msg/month for yourself.
Feel free to use the Vera Alert ICON … Or you can create your own App Icon.
