Aeotec Micro Smart Switch 2e problem

Hello,

I installed an Aeotec micro smart switch 2e in a lighting circuit. Two three way switches control a contactor which engergizes the lighting circuit. The switches and contactor are on a different branch circuit than the lights the contactor controls.

First switch box has incoming power (LNG), three wire w G to the second switch box, and outgoing switched power to the contactor (LNG).

I installed the smart switch in the first box. Line N, Line power, and contactor power to smart switch. The two three way switches were connected to one another (Red /Black). First low voltage wire from the smart switch went to the first switch common terminal and the other low voltage wire from the smart switch went to the second switch common terminal.

When I press the smart switch button, the contactor/light works properly (it turns on and off). However neither three way switch has any effect. I cycled thru all three modes (2 way, push button, 3 way) with no effect. I thought the inter switch run might be too long for the low voltage terminals so I tested with the second switch six inches from the first. Same result.

I then disconnected both three way switches and connected a simple on/off switch to the smart switch. I reset the smart switch. Same issue. The smart switch button works to turn the lights on/off but the 2 way switch had no effect.

Please help.

Thanks

Well, this sounds like a bad smart switch. But, just to be clear, you are connecting the switch to teh two switch terminals and NOT the 3V terminal, correct?

See attached diagram.

Correct. Not the 3V terminal.
Thanks

This seems to be a common problem with aeotec.

I have 2 micro modules that don’t work anymore with the wall switches.
They work perfectly with vera and smartphone. tried to remove, reset and add again them, but the problem persists.
Anyone have some ideia in what to do?

I got a multimeter and i realize that the micro module switch connectors have always 0 resistance.
it’s like inside they are shorted.

Any ideia?
