Somehow it also senses open/close state, not clear if it’s integrated or not. I have a new garage door coming in 2 weeks and would like to add it my system. Not sure if I should wait it out or do what others have done.
I see some people are using a momentary scene to activate a Remotec ZFM-80, the Evolve LFM-20, or a basic appliance switch with a radio shack relay and adding a rigged window/door sensor. I also see the Evolve is Scene Capable, does that matter for a garage door?
Any thoughts on what direction I should take? Assuming cost is not a huge factor and all solutions are within a reasonable range of each other, I’m looking for the most elegant and reliable solution.
I have a MimoLite connected to my garage door controller and closed limit switch. Playing around with it right now, I want it to check the garage door at a specific time and close it if it’s open. Haven’t figured it out yet.
I gave up waiting for the Aeotec device to come out. I decided on Remotec zfm-80. I had an electrician install it for me in the ceiling next to existing outlet for garage door opener. I already had an Aeotec door window sensor on the garage door reporting status. The setup, programing, and operation was easy and is working great. I referenced this post before I purchased and installed:
You can use the Garage Door Plugin with those devices.
From a Vera Perspective you would then have:
1) Switch - That initiates the door movement
2) Door Sensor (Indicates Open/Close)
3) LOCK - Lock means door is close, UnLock means door is open.
Instead of a TOGGLE scene … just set the LOCK to the desired position.
After speaking with Aeotec support, the Garage Door Opener is estimated for November 2014. Being that they said “estimated”, I would not assume that to be certain, but I would think that having it released for the Holiday season is a smart idea.
They are full of it… most of their products seem to be vaporware. I have pestered them over a year about the garage door controller and each time they keep pushing date. I would assume November is a lie as well.
Anyone heard anything? This product is listed on several sites including eBay and Amazon, but all are “sold out”, whcih I take to mean “Never had in the first place.”
I moved on. I’m using the mimo-lite with the garage door plugin, I have it configured, but I still have to soder the wires to my control board. Many new garage doors don’t work with a simple momentary switch anymore.
