Aeon Labs Smart Energy Switch, Module & Micro Dimmer and Switch modules

That’s good to know. Thanks for the info.

Does anyone know if these are being shipped from ASIHome yet?

We have some of the DSC18101-US and DSC19101-US coming in on 4/16 and some of the DSC26101-US and DSC27101-US coming in on 4/24.

@ASIHome,

All four flavors available from you now?

@oTi@,

I’ve had an order that’s been delayed since March. The latest date I received is now 16 May for the DSC27101.

So it looks like all 4 are delayed from Aeon. As cubs posted, the current ETA we have is 5/16.

We are currently expecting our first shipment of the Micro Modules on 5/16 though they are probably all spoken for already.

Will the Micro-Switch work in a 3-way light switch configuration or is it 1-way only?

I have a diagram from them for 3-ways but you have to look at it a few times for it to make sense.

Barry are these in stock now and shippng from you?

Thank you
Scott

As another anxious Andy… His post above stated 5/16/2012 as the ‘latest eta’ however given Aeons shot comings to date … I wouldn’t be holding me breath… Hey these delays could be a good thing… They coulda been like INSTEON/smarthome and ship stuff that was clearly not ready for prime time and let the customers eat the trash… I personally threw away over a $$grand$$ worth of the crud , yea I know they would’ve taken it back and replaced it and for the first dozen or so switched I did just that … Finally my wife said either you make the lights work or you’ll be sleeping on the deck!

That was it… All that money down the crapper.

Let’s hope / pray that when these do ship they’ll be rock solid. ( cause I’m really rooting for these guys! )

I have installed several of these in existing wall switch/outlet boxes. There is no room in most boxes. By the time you reconfigure the wires and add a neutral wire, you have already exceeded the maximum # of conductors/devices. ( NFPA 70/ NEC ). Best practice is to remove the existing box and install a new deeper( more cubic inches) box.

I’m not sure I understand?

Most single gang boxes have what? 1 set of cables from the load center and 1 set of wires going to the endpoint/load right??

How does adding this micro unit add to the equation to the point of it being too many wires?

Also, adding a neutral? In both homes I’ve owned neutrals have always been present with the only times it wasn’t had to do with the power/neutral from the load center being fed to the light fixture first and then just the hot and white wire (wrapped in black) beng sent to the switch box … I hate those! :slight_smile:

Also… People always write white wrapped in black (as I did just now) but the fact is I’ve run into quite a number of times when the white wire SHOULD have been wrapped or marked black when if fact it wasn’t… Lazy electricians I guess but it sure is frustrating and sometime confusing… It also has me wonder what other shortcuts were performed that are now buried behind sheetrock.

We are still trying to get an updated ETA. Sorry guys.

Thanks!!

I’m sure we all know the fault doesn’t lie at your feet… ;D I’m also pretty sure, if the product was working as expected we’d have it already… Engineering products isn’t easy engineering good working products is even harder… I’m sure we’ll see em when they’re ready.

Just got a shipped notification from ASI… So they are in…

Great news. Now let us know how they work out.

ASIHome,

Good to see someone finally (hoping) they may make it into the retail channel. I pinged some emails a few months ago with Aeon Labs directly, and it sounded like could order in batches of 50. However, I wanted to get ‘a few’ to test i) physical dimensions when actually get wired into US junction boxes; and ii) make sure Zwave protocols were working.

Would like to put an order in for ‘a few’ on your site. Surprised that four devices listed with descriptions that I can make little difference out of.

http://www.asihome.com/ASIshop/advanced_search_result.php?search_in_description=1&keywords=aeon+labs

I see different part numbers and modification in title re: 10A no dimming vs. 2.5 amp dimming (I guess), but it’s hard to understand the variations across all four. Sorry if I’m being dumb, but some quick guidance on the specs here would be helpful. Up until now had figured there was only one in-wall device, not four.

DSC18101-ZWUS = 10A Switch with Energy Reporting
DSC19101-ZWUS = 300W Dimmer with Energy Reporting
DSC26101-ZWUS = 10A Switch without Energy Reporting
DSC27101-ZWUS = 300W Dimmer without Energy Reporting

Hope that helps.
