The AEON 4-in-1 sensor seemed like such a a great idea when I first ordered them. Now not so much. My advice would be unless you absolutely positively have to have light, temperature and humidity skip the AEON and solve it another way. Not only do they eat batteries for lunch, configuring them can be a patience-trying experience exceeded only by dealing with the tax man or getting a root canal.
Today I tried to reconfigure the Motion Timeout value to 240 seconds to try to reduce the number of activations and thus hopefully the battery draw. Both my units initially reported “Waiting for Wakeup …” and now they report “Unable to get any information on the node.” Attempts to manually reconfigure result in the same error every time. and I’ve been at it for three hours now.
Need a motion sensor try Schlage/EcoLink. Good, reliable, easy on the battery (I have one inthe Kitchen that has been installed for over a year and still has 99% battery remaining.) If you really really really need light/humidity/temperature and can’t solve it any other way then the AEON may be your only alternative … but be prepared for frustration.

Can’t disagree with this. I buy different sensors to try them out, and while the Aeon is great in concept, it sucks in execution for many reasons:
Too heavy - because it needs 4 AA batteries, it makes it heavier than other sensors. Most sensors i can mount with 3M Command strips, which allows one to mount something without putting holes in your wall/ceiling.
Lack of support - while there is Z-wave parameter info out there, there’s been NO guidance from Aeon or MCV as to what the right/optimal settings should be to balance responsiveness versus battery life. Any info out there is users guessing at it.
The problem is that I need humidity and PIR sensing in rooms like the bathroom. Unfortunately it means at least two different sensors to mount. Less is more in terms of interior design.
Exactly. Some of us don’t like our houses looking like a geek science experiment and can’t easily run new wires so they are well hidden. WAF is major. The sensors/devices should blend into the background.

Agreed, seems like every wireless device I add to the house needs ~2 wires to function. Have many a wife; I thought you said that was wireless? You’re not leaving that Wire there are you?

Ditto! I have all the motion sensors, and just started with the Schlage. Take it apart, you will be impressed. If you want reliable motion detection, I’m putting my money on Schlage. It does one thing (motion), but appears to do it right. Love the simple design. I hear it is light on battery use. Love the jumpers! P516
