hi guys - I am thinking of doing the integration between my new veralite and my existing NX-8, would use the NX-584 and an IP to serial converter (wiznet I suppose!).
My alarm setup is relatively simple, 1 partition with 33 zones.
Question from reading these posts and some of the programming details is will the interface work? My main interests are to arm / disarm remotely, confirm armed status, and perhaps trigger some vera events from sensor conditions (motion and/or door).
If the integration and plugin would seem to work “out of the box”, I’d probably want to spend time on it. but, if a lot of debugging is required, I may not be so inclined.
Can you tell me whether I could expect the integration to be relatively straightforward, and/or are there any min. rqmts that I should check now that would inform me? (e.g. such as NX-8 firmware revision, etc?).
I have an NX-6 from 2003 i had a NX584 built into it and it works like a charm. The only thing i had to do is buy a serial cable (i took a non-crossed type) and changed the jumpers on the 584 to work with a non crossed type cable. (RXD and TXD).
It was real easy to do and works perfectly.
Also, my NX-6 does not return zones (names) so i had to add them manually, which was easy to do.
davestern, that’s one of the more common configurations that other users have gone with. Not everyone reports their success or failure back to the forum (thanks rpleever for your data point), but I wouldn’t foresee any showstoppers. All of the things you want to do are supported irrespective of firmware level.
There is configuration to be done, and you will need your panel’s Go To Program code to enable the necessary message types in the NX-584.

thanks…! Any suggestions on where to look in the forums for a good guide on the integration and /or configuration? thanks again…
Edit: In case that ad never screened where you live… this forum topic is the main place for information. Yes, it’s long. Yes, that’s a lot of trawling through discussions to get the stuff you need. Sorry.
Also there is the plugin’s help page (Apps > My Apps > GE Caddx NetworX Alarm Panels Plugin > Help), which takes you here. That site could do with a lick of paint.

I have an NX-6 and just plugged my NX-584 in. I’m having a hard time understanding the programming options from the control panel. Can you provide any detailed instructions?
