Adjusting the Ramp Rate

I’ve looked up and down these forums and I cannot figure how to adjust the ramp rate of my Leviton Dimmers. Can it be done? Any LUUP code for it?

I would like to have certain triggers and scenes to have instant on (alarm goes off) and other scenes where it is very slow (movie scene).

Not possible? ???

You can adjust them locally on the dimmer. I know of no way via Vera to do it.

I do know the Leviton handheld programmer (VRCPG) has an option for fade rate (when the device is controlled via a scene controller)*. I haven’t tried letting Vera assign things to the scene, and then modifying the fade rate with the VRCPG. It might stick when Vera configures the device at a later time, but it might not.

  • Added note about controlling it via scene controller - not from Vera

Maybe file a bug report? It might be Leviton proprietary.

Thanks for the info.

Any chance of just ignoring the ramp rate using some LUUP code to instantly set the level to 100 or 0? I made some code to gradually dim the lights over time, but I’m not finding a way to make them instant on.

The only way I can think of would be to set the switch locally to “instant.” Then you could use the ramp plugins when you want to ramp it up and down, but that’s pretty cumbersome, and the timing resolution within Vera isn’t great enough to make a smooth transition over a few seconds (the best you can get going from 0-100 over 5 seconds would be going 20/40/60/80/100 stairstepping, not smooth).

I believe that is standard, i.e. part of Z-Wave scenes; and this option is not supported in Vera.
