ad2usb ssh and devices

I recently purchased a VeraEdge (UI7)and a few devices. I also bought a ad2usb to integrate my existing FA147C alarm panel into my Vera. With a little help from Vera Support, I have it configured to recognize my alarm system, but now I have a few questions -

  1. Is there a way to ssh to the ad2usb while it’s connected to the Vera? I can SSH without issue when I connect directly to my computer via USB, but not sure how to SSH to a connected device on vera.

  2. I have multiple door sensors, smoke detectors and motion sensors connected to my alarm panel. I’ve added them to the cheatsheet on the Vista Alarm Panel in Vera, but they all show as motion detectors, not door or smoke if they are. I’ve tried changing the device_type & associated xml/json files, but they reset back to motion detectors. I’ve also tried adding the serial number & loop number.

A second part to question #2… I got the serial number and port for the cheatsheet a few different ways, and not sure if I have the right values. Example one RF door detector: a) looking at logs with the AlarmDecoder Keypad, I see serial number 1039184. If I enter the programming option on the panel directly and look at the settings, I see A103-9184 listed as the serial number. The A103-9184 is too long for the data field in the cheatsheet. Am I correct in using 1039184?

BUMP

I’ve had success with my Vera and AD2USB over the past few months, but I somehow changed a config through the alarm panel that I want to correct. I’d like to get in to see the configs & activities/logs on the AD2USB while it’s connected to my Vera (UI7)

Q: Can anyone walk me through question #1 in my original post: Is there a way to ssh to the ad2usb while it’s connected to the Vera? I can SSH without issue when I connect directly to my computer via USB, but not sure how to SSH to a connected device on vera.

I use the AD2PI and bought a cheap router from amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001FWYGJS?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage). I set it to bridge mode to connect my Envisalink 3 and AD2PI to my home network. I can ssh into it and also use the keypad app wherever I am. It works great on the home network, with a little port forwarding, it is easily accessible from the internet.

That’s a great option, but unfortunately, I have the USB model, so I’m unable to add my ad2xx to the network this way. Wish I would have thought about that before.

You can easily add a Pi to any AD2 device.
